Preseason?

I think I wrote this season off at Christmas so the only thing I have to look forward to is preseason and all next season's new grounds.

So... has anyone heard any rumours about where we might be off to during July to get us ready for a tough season in the third tier of English football?

Obviously management uncertainty would delay any announcement... but I wanna plan my holidays

Just checked and Port Vale's were all local affairs last season althought that would have been down to cost as much as anything. Maybe he can pull a few strings and get a game against a big higher league club like Brighton or Coventry.

I wouldn't mind Holland, Belgium or France. Fed up of the usual shite we always play over here and it's not that long a trip.

I'd suggest it's a bit late in the day to go anywhere further to be honest.

At this late stage, I'd like another Scotland or Ireland (providing it's different teams!).

The Blades would be very welcome at Boston (Lincolnshire that is, not USA). There have been quite a few links in the past between the two clubs and I know for a fact that Boston United would love to host a pre-season game. Maybe not the full SUFC first team since Boston are in the Blue Square North (i.e. 6th tier) but the youngsters/reserves would get a good game.

(You can get great Lincolnshire sausages and pork pies in Boston, too)

Even Cornwall would be a bit of a change like we used to do under Warnock. You just know for a fact it will be Rotherham, Burton, Mansfield etc that we always play.

A decent home friendly against good opposition wouldn't go a miss either. When was the last time that happened? I can remember us playing FC Twente back in 2002 or so when they used to be rubbish, but other than that...

Didn't Watford get Inter over a couple of seasons ago? Doubt we'd be able to get anyone like that, but a good crowd for a home game would bring in a bit of cash.

years ago we had an annual pre season friendly against Skegness Town (the lillywhites) was always a great day fans and players mingling before and after the game and always had laughs, they should bring this back, stand us in good stead playing on some of the third tier pitches covered in sand

Oh yes, I think that would have been down to a certain "Lincolnshire businessman" who used to own the club. Weren't Grantham and Bourne regular pre-season jaunts in the 80's too?

Norwich certainly did a few years ago, and Inter played most the 1st team, including Ibrahimovic at the time, was a hell of a spectacle!

Surely Scandinavia, especially now that we have Tonne. Pre season friendly against Rosenborg and then down to Copenhagen for a couple of games. Good level and a chance to pick up some Scandinavian talent
