Because we won last night I will have a nibble on what I think the OP is on about. The question about whether you keep on with Wilder if promoted to the Premier League. If we are being realistic about the clubs we are being compared too in the OP (Aston Villa, Forest, Brentford, Fulham). Aston Villa and Fulham have been Premier League regulars although had a stint in the Championship they bounced back and have funds beyond our current reach.
Forest although may have breached a few FFP rules here and there have now settled and look likely to get into Europe due to big spending. Brentford are a "fashionable" club possibly with Sky Sports HQ being less than 2 miles away they are seen favourably however they do have cash too.
Wilder will be in the minority if we are promoted with English managers down to Eddie Howe currently (not including the Scottish or NI lot) its probably not seen as a Premier League thing to do, to have a English manager, as we have seen with pampered former players like Rooney and Lampard. Personally I am hoping the new owners stick by the roots and keep hold of a Blades legend however that will probably be where the problem does lie. When people think of Sheff United they think of a hardworking team that are physical and athletic etc etc.
The owners will ultimately decide how long Wilder has if we go up
For me you look at 1 of possibly 3 options
1) Stick with the "Sheffield Roots" and keep the fanbase onside, we might be shite on occasions but do we care as we get the cash of the Premier League again.
2) Keep Wilder but bring in a changed backroom staff currently Knill & Prestridge have been working with Wilder since his time at Northampton Town (no disrespect to them or Northampton) but it is a bigger jump from League 1 to the Premier League. Bringing in fresh ideas and additional coaching staff could be a way forwards. Such as the new addition of a "set piece coach" that seems to be at a lot of Premier League clubs now. Although doesn't have to be him however someone of the mould of Luis Boa Morte who has recently taken over as Guinea-Bissau national Head Coach, he was apparently a great asset to Everton & Fulham under Silva (possibly helped that native language of Portuguese is the same) however a fresh backroom team could be a way to stabilise the club in the Premier League.
3) Remove Wilder - Personally not my choice as it comes down to who do you replace him with, without having a full squad rebuild to play "the non Wilder way"
