People forget that Micky Adams was seen as a decent manager before he came to the Lane. As was Nigel Adkins and many more. In fact, I don't want to curse things but Bramall Lane could be seen as a highly-rated manager's graveyard.

In my lifetime the only managers that have gained promotion with the Blades didn't really set the pulses racing when they were appointed. They came from the following clubs: Rotherham, Wimbledon, Bury and Northampton.
Well luckily we've recruited a shit manager who was deemed not good enough for 'ull.

Am I missing something in the facts I just wrote?

Has any body given Wilder any credit for signing Souttar in the first place? One of the best central defenders seen at Bramall Lane? Wilder made mistakes, certainly, but I think this, "Wilder should have found a player, just as good as the one who got an unfortunate injury it's all his fault we only got 92 points" is a bit much, even for the happy clapper, blame Wilder for spunking money on Cannon mob.

The trouble is when you have owners with no money (obvious now) you have to sell before you can recruit. So we end up four days to go with an unproven CB and Jackie long throw plus a youth as back up. Four days to get two CB's but everyone now knows we have cash to spend and slap a higher price on players we are interested in like Hull have with Hughes. When are we going to ever learn to get players in before we let ours go as all the other sensible clubs do. Year after year we leave ourselves short and vulnerable a few days before the season starts. We now have to pay a higher price or go without, if we don't get two good CB's in sharpish we can forget finishing top six the defence is nowhere near good enough.
Sharpe is a CF not a CB, too old, slow and fat for the Blades now. Need a younger fitter version......

Agree Souttar was a monster player at Championship level. It’s the 1st time I’ve been bored, almost laughing when the opposition win a corner or take a free kick set piece. Every single time Souttar won the header, it wasn’t fair ha ha.

Wilder is a good manager and I still see his as a legend based on his rise from league 1 playing the overlapping centre back system but he’s history now.

Really looking forward to a new style of play under Selles. Suspect instead of matches being quite boring and winning 1-0 most weeks we’ll see a few really exciting 4-0 wins one week, Selles is the new Pep!!, then lost 3-0 the week after where everything goes wrong, Selles out!!

Anything could happen really, that’s why it’s exciting. However lose to Bristol City and the same idiots will be predicting relegation and calling for a manager head after 1 game ha ha.

Good post, totally agree

If you needed a car for work would you sell it before you found a better one or would you get a better car then sell the old one? Quite simple really you'd buy the new one first if you had the readies or risk being without a car if you couldn't find/afford a better one.

What happens if there was a really good car that you wanted it was a lot better than the ones that were for sale at the time you got a great offer for your car. You knew this really good car would be for sale in a couple of weeks. You take the really good offer for your car then wait for the really good car the one that you really want to come on the market, youve been patient but you got the really good car, the car that is a perfect fit just for the sake of waiting a couple of weeks

what unadulterated bollocks ,, fine whinging,

souter didnt leave he got injured , typical of our luck
weve got bids on for 6 or 7 players

I Didnt think we needed a change but I WILL BACK HIM AS HES THERE
have you not watched us pre season , scoring for fun beat , fulham One shown he can do moores job

still got cooper ohare , hamer ,pike, and arblaster coming back

lets moan if we lose 3 or 4 on the trot really dont need stuff thats not happened

worry when we cant sign players like wendies, they still think they can make play offs , its called faith

Yawn….

I’m fully behind Selles, I wanted Wilder out, I’m excited about how we’re approaching offensive work.

I’m equally concerned about the lack of attention to the defence when we fucked up last year because of it. If that makes me a bed wetter then great I’m Niagra Falls…….

Year of pain is followed by a transition down to competing without parachute payments having lost a lot of our quality players.

I think we need to be a little more realistic about the financial implications if we don’t go up this year. It will be a huge task to maintain a promotion / playoff challenge.
Agreed 👍 I think what we are doing is sensible…

Souza has ambitions on being with Brazil at the World Cup so needs to he playing top flight this year - no point in keeping an unhappy player.

Anel was in last year of contract and unlikely to sign a new one. He always said we were a stepping stone for him so fair play.

I’m not saying it sits well with me but it’s the right thing.

Sign replacements with potential (just like they had) and with low commitment to the club so we aren’t fucked if we don’t go up and we can still manoeuvre the following season.

Being ‘deemed not good enough for ‘ull’ is probably a good sign given the batshit crazy decisions their charmain makes on the regular.

Liam Rosenior was the previous manager not deemed good enough and he’s taken Strasbourg into European competition in his next job…

And if we spend too much this year and don't go up that "huge task" will become MASSIVE

Wilder deserves huge credit for lots of what happened last season, and also shouldered responsibility for falling at the last hurdle (and blowing it when we were in pole position.
I am one of the many fans who would have been quite happy if he was still our manager but now he isn’t, is quite excited to see something new. I’m certainly not prepared to write off a season in advance of a ball being kicked.

The fact that we don't have anyone in shirt number 5 (unless Soumare is going to wear it) suggests that there must be someone in mind for it...

Genuine question, is Souttar still injured? Or is he "on the grass"

CW is long gone. Maybe Selles is thinking 'I'll not sign a CB. If I do what Wilder did, and not bother, then his fan club will love me?'

Or maybe he is shutting down information coming out of the club and acting in a far more professional way. The supply of leaks has been cut off. No more mates hinting at what's going on, on social media. No table dancing. No 'my club' noise. It's refreshing.

The window has time to go yet. There's absolutely nothing you can do on here that will change what's happening inside BDTBL. Relax. See who's in the shirts on Saturday and back them, RS and his coaching team.

I don't know where to start with that.

Ok...

Most people would need to sell first.

This analogy doesn't relate at all to the crazy world of football transfers.

I give up, I tried to make it simple for you to understand 🤷‍♂️

I believe I just demonstrated that I understand.

What I can't understand is your steadfast insistence that every scenario is bad, doom and gloom and that situations can never change.

We haven't spent money yet... But we might in the few weeks. For example.

Imagine you needed a car, but all the garages were stockpiling the best ones amd charging premium prices. But all the cars on Facebook marketplace weren't good enough...

Then I'd keep the car I already have.

Your car doesn't want to start for you. It's refusing to go to the garage. It's seen that your neighbours have bigger garages.

You're doomed I tells ya!

Think I'll go look at the Pigs thread more sense posted there than this deludamol fuelled one.

exact same as Wilders, lack of foresight for a quality CB, no lessons have been learnt from last season, we’ve been crying out for a BIG experienced centre half since Souttar left, so it seems that Selles seems to think Robbo bombscare is good enough, when we ALL know he isn’t, so we didn’t replace, now we have another massive HOLE, he has totally neglected any sort of preparation to improve what was ultimately our demise and Achilles heel for last season, now we need TWO quality CB and not bloody on loan, with next to no rumours or a hint of who we maybe going for if at all with 4 days to go, I despair……

The new owners seem to not have a strategy for the club, they also seem hellbent on surrendering their investment…

We all, well most said the same after December about defence and how it will ultimately duck us over, which it did, and now we’re saying if you don’t do something about it NOW, then we’re screwed this season.

Think Norwich, as that’s the trajectory we’re in at the moment mid table fodder.

Sort it out Selles, and the board.
Well said Sire

Nope. Some of us are blessed with a bit of spine.
There's also the addage that perhaps the club don't want to sell Hamer, but if a silly offer came in over £15mil then we'd be stupid not to sell him.

Things can change very fast in football. We could receive a silly offer out of the blue for him next week. It doesn't then mean that there was always a plan or intention to sell him. If we'd always intended to sell Anel then we wouldn't have played him in pre-season, same with Hamer.

Edit:

Stop pissing yer pants ffs. We could well sign all the players and more that you want before Saturday - then there's another 3 weeks to get them in if not.

Come back when the window slams shut if we haven't signed anyone, although I have a feeling that you won't be be seen anywhere if we do get those players in.
Hi, how you feeling today?
