I'm not on a negative vibe, but transfers like Bowen, Mcburnie and Maupay make losses all the time.

If we buy them and they prove not to be up to prem standard, they can only be sold for a top of the championship fee, rather than a prem one that we pay.

I think they'll do ok at Prem level, and probably improve as well. There's no guarantees, but the only alternative is to buy established Premier League players...…..That's not gonna happen.
Wilder said he wanted younger players that will be an asset on the field and off it if we need to sell. So unless we've suddenly developed superb scouting facilities in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America the best up and coming Championship players is the only option we have.

Exactly

But but Fulham spent 100 million But but Wendy spent millions

They don’t have chrissy wilder and Alan Knill

Yes they did and the problem with both of those two teams - is that that had too MUCH money and selling clubs knew that and they had the wrong management,

Our full management team appear competent and settled and with CW continuing to drive the club forward, we need to tap into everything that comes from that.

The immediate future is very bright and almost certainly R&W - we just need to be sensible.......... don't we Mr McCabe and Price Abdullah?

UTB

Is there any of the players we've sold to an at the time Prem club we could buy back for less than we got for them ?

La liga clubs who qualified for the champions league made less than Huddersfield

So Huddersfield finished rock bottom of the league & played a grand total of 8 times on Sky... Banked 100 million.

How many times did United play on Sky last season? Has to be comfortably in double figures & we will have banked next to nowt in comparison.

Madness.

People in America China India Australia Nigeria and tim buck two don’t care about the champ

Premier league is the main league in the world

this again a dreadful idea. people know for me, i made a page about it in january. where for me theres actually too much is televised, number games needs cutting not expanding & i think its harming the product by diluting the Premier league, because i might be wrong but i doubt there is much demand from neutrals to want see Forest v Burnley, Brighton v Brentford or Villa v West ham. 1 that has been televised & 2 about to be

for me i would cut it from 200 to only broadcast 128 games, Saturday tea time, Super Sunday 4pm & Monday night football 8pm. then televise all boxing day games & all games on the final day

Getting rid of the 3pm blackout nonsense would solve this but, no, as ever the Premier League and the FA are catering to the armchair viewers around the world.

They could literally broadcast every game of the season if they wanted but nope they insist on fucking about and creating more and more TV slots just to appease those that have never stepped foot in a stadium before in their lives.

They then have the audacity to complain about people having dodgy boxes despite charging UK viewers the most out of any country in the world for the least amount of games.

The 3pm rule is absolute nonsense in the premier league anyway isn't it. The reason they have it is to not effect the attendances, it makes no odds In this league as everywhere would be full regardless, think we'd all still be going at 3pm on a saturday wether it's on tv or not rather than fucking around on Sunday nights but as you say it's all about the worldwide viewing.

The 3pm is to protect the lower and non leagues which I fully agree with. My local side 5 or 6 leagues below the conference have been getting crowds of 1000 to 400 this season. What we have in this country is special and needs looking after.

Also I noticed it was me who started this thread in 2019 taking about the Prince or McCabe selling on to richer owners 🤦

Dont worry, we wont be staying for long.🤣

i think blackout is potentially is good idea because its not premier league its affecting its L1, L2 or further down. as they want to keep match going fan as open up 3pm. the last thing they want is next generation becoming glory hunters supporting a team they can only watch on tv. instead of going to see Bolton, Port Vale or Portsmouth

I suspect this will go down like a lead balloon on here, but at this point I think we might as well just scrap 3pm kick offs altogether in the Premier League and then televise every EPL fixture. Leave the 3pm kick offs just for the EFL.

Very good point, wasn't thinking of the effect lower down the pyramid.

In this day and age it’s a completely irrelevant rule. If people want to watch the 3pm matches they can very easily. It’s probably easier than actually signing up with Sky and for a fraction of the price.

I just dont buy it for a second that it will have an affect on attendances at any level. People arent going to watch Hallam because they cant sit at home and watch the 3pm games, theyre going because they’d rather watch non league football. If they wanted to sit in and watch the 3pm games they would.

I’d argue that Sky pissing around with kick off times has had way more of a negative impact on attendances than this blackout rule ever has.

How does sky or any TV company for that matter, moving around kick off times at PL negativity impact lower league attendances?
Clearly making PL matches available at 3 on a Saturday would do, and setting up an IPTV box or similar isn’t as easy as turning on Sky/BT.
The blackout harms no one but protects lower league clubs and getting rid of it just further lines the pockets of the biggest clubs.

While a lot of people know how to get games a lot do not or are unwilling to go down dodgy routes.

Maybe it wouldn't hurt turn out Saturday it won't but for generations up coming it will. I am all for moving majority of premier league games to Sundays like most countries have their main games played. Show them all. Cuts down on knob head pissed up can't handle their drink fighters and increases money and can show every single game.

TV companies move lower league games sometimes as well, no? The Championship is seeing more and more games moved for TV too. Generally though, I’ve had to miss more games due to a fixture change. I cant say I’ve ever missed one because I fancied watching the a game on the telly.

You say it clearly would have an affect on the 3pms but there isn’t actually any evidence that suggests it would. Do you honestly think midweek attendances are currently impacted because people would rather stay in and watch the Champions League? Do you think people are staying in when the Premier League has a midweek round? I can’t see any evidence that they are. If these scenarios arent affecting the midweeks, they’re hardly likely to affect the weekend games either.

The blackout does potentially harm match going fans of teams in the Championship or the Premier League. Pissing about having us play at all hours certainly means not all fans will be able to get to all the games they want to. This idea that it’s protecting lower league attendances is massively over-played imo.

The Premier League is literally all over the place. It’s every time you switch on the telly. There’s enough games on the telly already for the future generations to go and follow Man City or Liverpool or whoever else they want to follow. The idea that all of a sudden making 3pm games available to view in the UK would bring the whole pyramid crashing down seems bonkers to me.

Even if there wasnt a blackout, there would still be games being moved for the telly. The 3pms would mostly still be us v Spurs or Fulham v Bournemouth or some other monotonous variation of Premier League also-rans. Will future generations really want to stay in and watch those? I’m not sure they will.

It might have been relevant in the 90’s when the Prem wasnt as big but the brand is so big now that there’s nothing to stop future generations supporting the big clubs if they want to. It’s the actual league itself thats the issue, not the kick off times.

The Sunday thing isn’t a bad idea. It’s probably the best way around it

Aye
Just one question:-
Is the “cut[ting] down on knob head pissed up can’t handle their drink fighters” a consequence of them not wanting to besmirch the Sabbath, or perhaps because Sunday fixtures ‘clash with attendance @ chapel ?

I hope the whole thing does come crashing down. The premier league make way too much money. Footballers earn way too much money. Fans pay way too much money. Its corrupt from top to bottom.

It won't. If anything football earnings are only just starting to get going. 2 billion tv Deal with the US just for the premier league As it grows there it will only increase. It may not always be the premier league as the top dog but money in US sporting market + Saudi + China when it gets itself back sorted and outward facing it's going to make the current numbers look tiny
