I have to say I’m pretty underwhelmed by the summer gone by.

The defence is not good enough to be a genuine challenger. Last season we were starting with Souttar and this year we’ll be starting with someone not as good as him, so a weaker team. It’s especially frustrating as there are quite a few centre halves out there to try, Darling and Dunne being 2.

We need a central midfielder and a right back desperately in my opinion. Without Souza in midfield we are miles weaker, and even though I think Seriki is a great footballer and has a lot of potential, it’s not doing him any good having absolutely no one to compete with at RB.

I’d be really happy however if we were able to pull off McBurnie arrival and Moore leaving. McBurnie being younger and more agile which can fit the new system, while also being a good championship striker, 5 years younger and actually being £2m up from the whole transactions would make the deal really good for us.

I like the look of Barry, and would like to see Caceres and Ukaki given the opportunity to turn pre season form into something useful.

We absolutely need a centre half, a right back, and a centre mid, and it’s a shame that whoever we get has missed a full pre season with a new style of play being put forward.

I half suspect, though, we will go full Sheffield United and both Cooper and Hamer will be sold last minute.

It gets to me knowing the first things the owners did was show some ambition and bottle and spend £10m on a new striker, and that striker ends up being someone who’s slow and weak and looks like he needs 5 touches to do anything.

Summer
Thought this would be a happy thread, wild flowers swaying gently in the lightest of summer breezes, gaily coloured butterflies hovering above punctuated only by the sound of honey bees drunk with nectar.

Off back to the Wednesday thread now to cheer myself up.

Summer is nearly over and I've not even tried dogging once this year!

I hope big shacks has done better than me.

They’re doing their best with these doom and gloom summer threads 😂 I’ve just read about three on the bounce all the same. I’m off back to the pigs going out of business one.

We didn’t start the season with Souter, he was added very late in the window . This window looks very much like the last, so let’s see where we are on 02/09.
PS please avoid jury service.

We didn’t start with Souttar at all he didnt start the first three games also Cooper didn’t play or come in before the season started
all our dealing will be done over the next month

Cooper is comfortably one of the top GK in the league.

Hamer is last years championship POTY.

Burrows is one the best LB in the league.

Anel for me is one of the best CB although he has his doubters

Peck will only get better this season.

Tyreece Campbell looks good at this level too.

I’m a big fan of COH too.

That’s 7 reasons too be cheerful and 7 players that I think would get in any team in the championship.

If we can get rid of Moore and bring Mcburnie in that’s great business.

We look like we’ve signed Souzas replacement awaiting final paperwork.

I think it’s clear youth will be given a chance this year which I’m happy about.

So for me we need a CB as Anel isn’t a leader and Robinson cannot be an automatic starter.

And a RB.

But if we start the season with what we have currently we should still be competitive and then take our time to get the right two players in.

If only somebody else had already noticed everything you’ve said and put it on this forum……oh, hang on, they already have, at least 100 times…..the usual reply from a sensible, non-bedwetting person……………
THE TRANSFER WINDOW DOESN’T SHUT UNTIL 1st SEPTEMBER 🙈

Darling has gone to Norwich City…but I take your point…but the window hasn’t closed.
