Maybe more to do with where I live than owt but I always start at The Crown Inn on Chesterfield Road, they have the early KO off TV so we watch that and then head to either The White Lion, Brothers Arms or the Sheaf View. All have a decent selection of ales, a decent beer garden and enough Blades in to make a decent build up.

The Golden Lion is going downhill, after Lee left just over a year ago the new incumbents had a good go, but they have left as 23 guaranteed decent trading days can't be enough to sustain a business. And the new lot running it seem to be holding tenants, just in place til the Pubco owner finds another sucker to fleece.

It's a nice little backstreet boozer, but I fear it's days are numbered.

If they're struggling for tenants i would've thought Punch will probably turn it into a managed house on their Project Falcon.

The turnover just on those 23 match days plus cup games are probably enough for them to not want it shut.

Cricketers was my local at weekends whether match was on or not when Kevin had it then tite shirt took over after with Eric....also pheasant...good old days

My usual Saturday went pear shaped as I could not get all the beer I wanted....tills were down amongst other things. Golden Lion

The day was "saved" by the Beer Engine after the match with plenty of Blades banter to be had and some strong beers!

Not been that pissed for a long time! (at least a week)

:)

Always a good gathering in the Pheasant
The Pheasant was Ok especially when Mick and Greeta had it. Going out with Landlords daughter was not the best move though .

Apart from them being unable to sort out at least two of the pumps, the tills crashing, and a huge queue at the bar then yes, it was wonderful.
I didn't notice any of that ,but then again I didn't get a round in there. Their Stones is lovely though.
