Saw one of those football factories things the other day with that muppet Dyer danny. Anyway the grunter on it was Duggie Pig before he forced to 'retire' and he said Wendy used to come and take The Pump which was a Blades stronghold. We used it very rarely only when passing from London Rd to town on a Friday night and you guys are the only other footy fans Ive ever heard use it. I am betting you never felt the force of Duggie pig and his rufty tufty mob ?

Went in there for a few years with the LBs and never caught a porcine sniff.

Tend to stick to town now or Beer Engine and Old Crown on London Rd.

I miss calling in the Sportsman for a swift one on the way to the match.

Used to get rammed on a match day and never a grunter in sight.

Cheers LS26BLADE

When you get to my age middle aged is almost a compliment.

The Rutland aint what it used to be though.

Choice and quality of ales and food both going down and prices going up.

The old management have moved on and I think that there is an air of complacency about the staff in the place these days.
I moved on after I was charged nearly a tenner for a pint and a fish finger buttie!

Clubhouse is my pre-match haunt. More out of habit than owt, but the beer is good and very reasonably priced.

The Bessemer...what a strange hell that is.

Went in the Bessemer the other Saturday night, strange hell indeed, some little Chinese guy like the one out of the hangover films stood at the bar at just after 12 wearing sunglasses:cool:. We spent all the time we were in there wondering WTF have we walked into and just kept thinking of the scene from Dusk till Dawn when they all turned into Vampires, strange hell indeed:eek:

I was a regular in the pump, pre match. Never once was there any trouble with porkers.:)

I don't think it's really the pubs that aren't what they used to be (of course, there'll never be another Lansdowne), more that as you get older and more sensible, a trip to the pub isn't what is was.

They joy of youth.......

Of course, a trip to the pub is still fucking brilliant. I Still love it, but I'm running out of willing partners. :)

AS I suspected

Dempsey's.

Which was named in honour of Djurgarden Manager and ex-Blade, Mark.

We're thinking of honouring/naming each urinal in the lavvy after a member of S24SU.

Any suggestions, most welcome.
Previously known as Harrys bar ,mate of mine was the chef ,before it became a bit flowery

That little guy floats around town mainly Walkabout and Leopold Square and usually ends up in Maggie Mays.

Is that Duggie pig who was on Jeremy Kyle and subsequently watched the next few Jeremy Kyle programs from his hospital bed?

Ive been struggling to find a decent pub for the last few seasons. The Golden Lion is ok and the Sheaf is well... the sheaf! We used to start in the Cremorne and work our way down London road but the atmosphere has gone. The Crown is nothimg like it used to be, Pheasant/Barrys same. I stuck my head through the Barrel door pre Oxford game and spotted a few of the old faces and going to give that a try today. I like going into town doing the Bessemer/Graduate etc but sometimes can't be arsed, getting too old! Will London road ever be like it used to be? UTB
You don't have to be drunk to watch the Blades but it helps

The Rutland...but don't tell everyone, they'll all want to come.

Walked past the new Sentinel brewhouse today. Might have to try that ...

a lot of pubs are really struggling
got to sell a lot of ale to fund 4 staff alone
heard on the money programme a lot of night clubs are dying on their feet

sign of the times

The Devonshire on Eccy road isn't what it was. Especially since it was demolished...
Used to go there as a kid, have fond memories of there Chip Butties, also remember the prem season when it got overrun by away fans, Geordies where a good laugh to be fair

That's what happens when you young people "pre-drink" or pre-load or whatever you call it. Same thing with the high street dying because youngsters buy everything online. Soon BDTBL will be the only place people see other people UTB
