Possible Summer Targets

Agree we are wasting our time with the likes of Hughill, Hogan and possibly even Gallagher because of high wage demands. Marriot, Maddison, Lindsay and Eisa are more in our wages ball park. Don't understand why we are not going for these.

I totally get the lack of optimism re players like Gallagher and Hogan but its obvious that we have some chance of these deals happening because Wilder would have ruled them out when asked and/or the speculation wouldn't have continued this long had we not had a chance.

Its the likes Of Lewis Grabban we can't afford because not only is it a hefty transfer fee, its also a hefty wage we can't afford wither. But with Gallagher and Hogan we can afford a loan fee and/or a transfer fee of 1-3 million (at a guess) its then down to the clubs and the players agent to come to a compromise as to the players wages and that boils down to how much does the player want to pay, as opposed to being on a higher wage and not playing and if its the latter then Wilder wouldn't want them anyway.

I’d prefer us to spend a big transfer fee on Marriott and fit his wages into the current structure, than to pay a big loan fee and big wages for a player that won’t be ours at the end of the season...just saying...

I'm sure I'd read he was off to another Championship club. One with money like Forest, Derby etc
With money? We've got money, correction, joint owners have got the money and will probabley spend it on lawyers fighting each other

I've agree we have a chance of getting them on loan with fees that could total £3 million but there is little chance of getting Hogan permanently unless Villa go to the wall. Hogan is no different to Grabban he signed for Villa for a package rising to £12 million. He's on £35k a week so we'll be paying at least half on loan if not more plus he has a poor injury record. Bruce doesn't rate him but in their present financial climate they are not going to give him away.

Gallagher permanent is more realistic but reports Arry paid him £18k a week whilst on loan at Brum suggest his wage expectations have rocketed. Neither have been prolific scorers over the last 12 months so this is a big risk which eats away at a fair proportion of our budget on players who are not ours. In any event I'd just like us to get someone over the line now.

I meant Hogan on loan too Addison. As you say we might get Gallagher permanently - hopefully!

Someone like Joe Garner would fit the bill, would be a top signing

Bruce also never rated Harry Maguire and hardly played him when he was at Hull.

Gwion Edwards looks like going to Ipswich and apparently they'll be beating us, Forest and Bristol City to him.

Ben Brereton mentioned somewhere, probably down pecking order at Forest .....19

I've got no idea what to think and what to believe in terms of where we are with our budget and how high we can aim with our targets. It's not looking as promising as it was a couple of weeks ago and the clock's ticking if we want the new signings to have any meaningful pre season with us.

Obviously we'll sign players but the quality and timing might not be ideal.

It's looking increasingly likely we'll rely on the loan market and not reinvest the 'Brooks money'.

Fuck knows what to expect. For the record I'll have a guess at 4 signings, 2 on loan and 2 permanent, with at least 1 only arriving near the deadline. I don't think we'll have more than one new outfield player in the line up v Swansea.

Genuinely, why is it looking less promising than a couple of weeks ago? Absolutely nothing has changed except our financial position has become a hell of a lot better.

13 teams in this division have so far signed no one. Not on permanant or loan

6 teams have signed one player (us included)

Forest and stoke have spent some proper money which is to be expected, preston and reading have made multiple signings however not bank busting nor what we would have wanted i imagine.

People need to get a bit of perspective and chill out a bit.

We have actually made a signing, imagine if we supported one of the 13 teams who have done fuck all yet? Jesus.

I hate agreeing with Pinchy but the deadline day army is out in force desperate for announcements and signings now, anyone, who cares, just sign them!

The court revelations and only getting £4m up front for Brooks make it look less promising to me. And things that were probably supposed to happen haven't happened (next week.... next week).

I just don't see us spending what I hoped we would. Hope I'm wrong.

Why does it matter? Its the way transfers work for pretty much every club in the land and we will just structure our deals in the same way. Its how football transfers work, why is that a reason to panic? They have to pay us the money, not gonna pay 4m then say, actually, cheers for brooks but were not gonna pay the rest, hope thats ok

How much do you "hope" we will spend?

The only teams who have not signed anyone are Wednesday, Derby and Villa. Where do you get 13 from?

Was one of the championship signings tracker website, i didnt check when it was last updated however, was just looking for an easy one to read.

Im still not chucking the toys out of the pram yet though. I also thought 6 clubs were supposed to be under an embargo this year.

I'd just be surprised now if they allowed Wilder more than £4m of the Brooks fee to spend this summer.

After the Brooks sale I hoped we'd spend £10m+, but I don't think it's going to be close to that.

It would be fair to say that only a few have done much business. There also seems to me, in general, more going out than coming in.

I'd be shocked if it was £4 million. Maybe for fees and wages.

Yep.... seems championship clubs are clearing the decks waiting for the big teams to do their business and hoover up whats left.... it could be a mental few weeks

Which I can only think will be bad for us (given our wage structure)

It's not a revelation at all. It isn't FIFA. All transfers work like that. We will still get a guaranteed fee plus add-ons. It's not like the players we are trying to sign won't be paid for like that, so we will structure our payments around the receipt of further instalments. It really isn't an issue at all.

The longer it goes on, the busier it gets, the busier the agents get.... the worse our chances get.

Works both ways. Premiership clubs can only have so many players registered, the closer to the end of the window it gets, the more desperate they will be to shift players out
