Possible Summer Targets

If we can get someone like Maddison or Freeman for £3m, Jack Marriott for £6m and Gallagher for £3-4m then I’d say we’ve done great business!

I hope you're right, but fear those figures are well over the mark for what we'll spend on fees. Wages will take up a huge chunk of what CW has to spend. The higher the fee the higher the salary

Yes, I know I’m overly optimistic and I’d be very happy to get any of those players in, never mind three of them.
A lot of people say we’re still not shopping in this market. Well mebbe not, but it makes me wonder a couple of things...
...if we’re not in this market what market are we in? I’ve not seen any names bandied about except perhaps Mo Eisa
...if we’re not in the market for quality signings how come CW says he’s happy with the amount he’s been given?? What progress can we make if we’re still shopping in the bargain basement?? It goes against CW’s assertion that we need fewer signings but better players. Doesn’t it???

The ones who've been listed are all surplus. Lafferty isn't yet surplus.

I think Holmes will be available but he's not been listed as he's not yet surplus, and he only signed 6 months ago.

Evans will also be allowed to leave on loan when we sign our new strikers.

LWB is less of a priority position and we might focus on other areas first, so listing Lafferty could yet be premature. If we sign a LWB I assume he'll then be allowed to leave.

Listening to CWs interviews I just don’t see we are after one just yet. I think CW has a longer term plan. I think he knows he has X amount to spend this season and is going to spread it over 4 players.

Next summer do exactly same again and hopefully the signings this season are a success.

I know some fans don’t rate Enda but some fans really do rate him. It’s the fans that don’t rate him say we need one and other half as content.

To be honest who’s a LWB out there who’s available and relatively cheap. I couldn’t see us spending 7 figures on a LWB and I think that’s what you have to spend to get better.

Well the rumours have are coming from the “The Star” are always going to have something in them.

They’ve been John Egan and Sam Gallagher. Egan is in contract so is going to be a decent fee. Sam Gallagher according to Alan Nixon from the Sun isn’t a cheap deal.

With the Brooks money I don’t see us shopping bargain basement. If we signed Egan / Gallagher and then paid 7 Figures for a striker I think that would put us in good stead.

I think Egan is interesting Leeds, I fear if they are genuinely in for him there's every chance he may end up there

Possibly mate, but we as fans have to know or current stature in this league. We have had one season in the championship. There are bigger teams in this league.

Saying that as fans we see a “ selling club” as a big issue. But if your Egan you move to us for X amount. If he performs an offer for £10million comes in we will sell him. It’s an easier route to premiership for him.

Look at Janson rumours turning down £15million last season! They blocked his dream move.

Don’t know if he’s mentioned in the previous 27 pages, but peter crouch as now been thrown into the conundrum.

Obviously bollocks anyway but I thought Crouch wanted to beat Teddy Sheringham's record and be the oldest Premier League footballer?

His wage demands would be a bit high I'd imagine anyway, though he has a good attitude and would probably do a job in the championship.

Wrong age group though, we're well served in the wrong side of 30 striker department.

That fat Scottish fud Nixon says there's a late mover in the race for Harry Wilson.

Hope it's us.

I don't know how bids work but we seem to put one on the table and just leave it there. We don't question it, up it, pull it. We just put them out there until the club we are contacting either forget about us or 3 weeks later have the courtesy to say our bid was feeble and overlooked.
Up them or move on, surely the same bid after a week of being in the table is a dead one!?

Which one are you thinking about here?

Nobody knows what we do with ours bids. I’m not sure where you get the notion that we just put one out there and forget about it.

Wilder has said that we have a couple of bids in for players. That presumably means they haven't been accepted or wouldn't he say 'we've had bids accepted and are talking to the player'?

How we then decide whether to up it or not I don't know but unless we think the selling club are going to change their mind it seems pointless leaving it hanging and setting a target for other interested parties to shoot at.

But how do you know that we are just leaving it there? That would be completely illogical. Do you think Wilder would operate that way?

As I said I don't know...I'm agreeing with you by saying it would be pointless to do so

We won't do, I just get frustrated this time of year. You've got to admit that it feels like it at times. In a few weeks we get a new wilder interview every couple of days in the lead up to the opener and I guarantee "there are a few bids still on the table" gets used a lot.

The players have only been back in training for 7 days and we aren’t even into the preseason games yet.

All fans what it doing as quickly as possible and to be fair CW moves as quick as anyone with contracts / retained lists / players incoming.

Did I dream it or are we getting two forwards in this week?

"We need different players," Wilder said. "We've got a box player in Bill and an all-rounder in Leon. So we need people who can provide different things around them. The top area of the pitch is an area we are looking at, yes."

I'd take from that above quote that Wilder is looking for an out an out target man such as Gallagher and another with pace but no idea who that will be - probably a loan player from the Prem.

For me we need a target man. So many times last year teams resorted to just punting it into the box and we struggled as we couldn’t bring anyone on to help out.

We need a big striker and hopefully the centre half we bring in will be a big lad.

Then we could always bring on Stearman and big striker to help us out.
