Possible Summer Targets

Kieran Dowell - Left footed attacking midfielder who's been on loan at Forest this season from Everton. Tidy player with a good ball striking technique. Would be good competition for Duffy and add goals to our midfield. Will probably go on loan in the Championship again.

Aboubakar Kamara - If Fulham go up he'd be an excellent loan signing up front. Quick, skillful and scores goals.

And a trio of interesting looking centre forwards from Germany...

Marvin Ducksch - Top scorer in Bundesliga 2 with 17, also has 11 assists. 24 years old and 6 foot 2. Playing for Holstein Kiel (3rd), on loan from St Pauli (13th), strangely, where he appears to only have a year left on his deal. Has also played wide and in behind. Leeds were watching him this season.

Lukas Hinterseer - 27 year old Austrian striker, 6 foot 3. Scored 13 goals for Bochum in the second division this season and has played over 50 games in the Bundesliga. Can also play wide and in behind. Looks to have one year left on his contract.

Sebastian Andersson
- 6 foot 3, 26 year old Swedish striker. Scored 10 this season in Bundesliga 2 for Kaiserslautern, who have staggeringly been relegated to the 3rd tier. They'll have to let players go on the cheap. He's played 2 and scored 2 for Sweden, and scored at a decent rate in the Swedish league before moving to Kaiserslautern.

Like the idea of these, with proper scouting, there will be some real bargains in the second tiers of the top leagues, and in the top leagues of some of the lesser countries. It's worked wonders for Leicester, Kante and Mahrez being the obvious examples.

Huddersfield got Collin Quaner from the German second division, a big unit like the three I've posted above, and an athlete. He settled well over here and has played quite a bit for them this season in the PL. If they stay up and are willing to move him on I'd love to see him here, he'd do well for us. Would take the burden off Clarke a lot and could score a good number of goals.

GOALKEEPERS

Jamal Blackman
- Anything under £3m would be a good, safe investment. But another loan seems more likely and would suit everybody.

Danny Ward
- Liverpool keeper who won promotion with Huddersfield after saving those penalties at Hillsborough. Possible loan if they don't fancy wasting another season of his career.

DEFENDERS

John Egan - Strong right footed centre back, a good fit for us. We've been linked before and I think we're very likely to be interested. One year left on his contract, should cost under £1.5m.

Darragh Lenihan
- Solid aggressive player who's also reasonable on the ball and can play in midfield. Even with Blackburn promoted we could go back in for him as he only has one year left on his contract.

Mark Beevers - Out of contract at Bolton. Dominant, left footed centre back who could cover CB and LCB for us. Arguably has his best years ahead of him.

Reece Burke - Highly rated young right footed centre back who's had a good loan spell at Bolton. We were briefly linked in January, if West Ham allow him to leave on any basis I think he'll be on our radar.

Tosin Adarabioyo
- Quality young centre back. 6 foot 5 and good on the ball. Played for Man City's first team this season. If they let him go on loan we'd be an ideal place to send him.

Dominic Iorfa
- Wolves could be willing to sell. Would be a good investment if so. Possible 'loan with a view'. Great athlete with a lot of potential, ideal for RCB.

Andy Yiadom - Right back with good pace and ability. Started out as a winger. Perfect for RWB. Can also play on the left. Out of contract at Barnsley, could have PL suitors. Maybe not viable given we're well stocked in that position, but he'd be a top quality free transfer.

Jack Robinson
- Solid left back who's done well at centre back this season for QPR. Would be an excellent free transfer to play LB/LWB and cover LCB.

Antonee Robinson - Attacking left wing back who has done well at Bolton on loan from Everton. Quick with good feet and dribbling ability. Everton could loan him out again and we'd be an ideal move for him.

Sam McQueen
- Left back or left midfielder with a quality left foot. Could be a more productive attacking LWB for us. Southampton are likely to let him go on loan.

MIDFIELDERS

Massimo Luongo - Would be very strong competition for Coutts and Fleck. Good ball player and ball carrier who's become increasingly solid and reliable in the last couple of years. Now QPR's captain. Probably not viable given what he'd cost and that we're already well stocked in midfield.

Max Power
- Good all round midfielder. Decent physically, mobile, good on the ball and can carry it. Right footed, takes a decent set piece. Still young enough to improve. One year left on his contract.

Josh Vela - Another versatile all round midfielder who has one year left on his contract. Physically good and decent on the ball. Can play all over the pitch. Showed in L1 that he has goals in him.

John McGinn
- Hibs midfielder. If we fancy selling Fleck then he's the outstanding option to replace him. Similar player. Will have a lot of suitors though and wouldn't be cheap.

Ben Marshall
- Right footed winger with good end product and a decent work rate. All round wide player. Can play on either side, and wing back. Has done well on loan at Millwall and Wolves will sell him this summer.

Yanic Wildschut
- Right footed winger. Powerful runner with good skill and ability who can play on both sides, and probably RWB. Norwich likely to sell.

Marvin Johnson - Boro paid £2m to sign him from Oxford last summer but are likely to sell this summer. Quite a traditional left winger, but has also played left back recently. Worth considering for LWB.

Sammy Ameobi - Tall, agile, pretty quick, strong, skillful, versatile, good left foot. He has great attributes on paper. He's done well for Bolton and would likely produce more in a better team. Out of contract, would be a good free transfer.

Sheyi Ojo
- Skillful and powerful left footed attacking midfielder who'd do well in the number 10 role or as a wide forward. Will probably leave Liverpool on loan again.

Kasey Palmer
- Skillful attacking midfielder who'll run with the ball a lot in the number 10 position. Likely to be loaned to a Championship club again. Chelsea should be happy to send him here.

Ryan Kent
- Quick, direct winger with excellent dribbling ability. Likely to be loaned out by Liverpool again.

ATTACKERS

Sam Gallagher
- Tall, mobile, good technically. We should be straight in for him if Southampton stay up and let him go on loan again. We'd be a good move for him. Hopefully they'd see that rather than sending him to whoever offers the biggest loan fee.

Ollie McBurnie -
Another very good all round young centre forward. We should try to loan him if he's available.

Sam Baldock
- Proven Championship striker who'd give us pace and goalscoring ability. A loan move might be our best hope.

Mohamed Eisa
- Has scored over 20 for Cheltenham in L2 this season. Decent pace and agility and good feet. Given how much proven strikers cost and how rapidly unproven ones can rocket in value, this seems like a no brainer for a club like us.

Izzy Brown - Striker or attacking midfielder with pace, guile and the ability to score and assist. Needs another loan move. Would play regularly for us. Chelsea should be happy to loan us players.

Adam Armstrong
- Started to score regularly for Blackburn. Tricky, skillful player with the potential to be a big player at Championship level. Probably ready to step up next season. If Newcastle are willing to sell he'd be a good buy. If not, consider a loan.

Lee Gregory
- Out of contract but Millwall have the option to extend for a year. He's done quite well this season. Would score more in a more attacking team. Wouldn't be surprised if we went for him.

Danny Ward
- Cardiff will probably look to sell him if they're promoted. Decent all round forward always likely to get into double figures in the Championship.

David McGoldrick - Worth considering on a free. Silky player and a decent athlete who's capable creating his own openings. Has shown his goalscoring ability numerous times in the Championship. Started this season well before nearly having his cock kicked off against Wednesday.

I'll add any more names in bold.

Add your own suggestions/possible targets.
Bit of a tame list that Rick.

Normally runs to several hundred names ;)

UTB

He's a fucking donkey. Having said that we don't have much in terms of options. I wouldn't be against it but it wouldn't fill me with joy.

We need to be taking chances, and I assume half of the football league will be after Mohamed Eisa from Cheltenham who's weighed in with plenty of goals.

Alex Schalk has had a decent season in Scotland, he's dutch and has weighed in with double figures for a poor Ross County team.

There really isn't much in terms of forwards lower down, we're going to have to go and look elsewhere in europe if we want to find quality. Billy Kee for example has absolutely stormed League 2 but I don't even think he'll cut League 1.

Kieran Dowell - Left footed attacking midfielder who's been on loan at Forest this season from Everton. Tidy player with a good ball striking technique. Would be good competition for Duffy and add goals to our midfield. Will probably go on loan in the Championship again.

If Van Tinky Wink is the manager then I think we will be seeing two or three unknowns from Europe in the ranks next season.

I posted a thread about our line up next season in the worst case scenario and whether we'd survive, but realistically we'll inevitably sign a few players regardless. This is an example of the minimum we should be able to do in the transfer market. This is assuming various departures but no significant sales.

Jamal Blackman - Loan
Reece Burke - Loan
Jack Robinson - Free
Antonee Robinson - Loan
Sammy Ameobi - Free
David McGoldrick - Free

GK: Blackman, Moore, Eastwood
RCB: Basham, Burke, Leonard
CB: Stearman, Burke
LCB: O'Connell, J.Robinson
RWB: Baldock, Freeman, Leonard
LWB: A.Robinson, J.Robinson, Stevens
CM: Coutts, Fleck, Evans, Lundstram, Leonard
ACM: Duffy, Brooks, Ameobi, Holmes
RW/LW: Ameobi, Brooks, Holmes
CF: Clarke, McGoldrick, Sharp, Brooks, Ameobi, C.Evans

I'd be very confident we could survive comfortably with that. We'd be improving at LWB and up front without a doubt, adding attackers with the ability to make things happen.

Ameobi is a nice shout. Bolton's best player by far.

He's been carrying their attack I think, but can't do it all on his own and doesn't get enough goals. That said, I can see him being their hero on Sunday at home to Forest, with Barnsley and Burton having tough looking games.

When they sold Madine most of us said that's them relegated, it's now safe to say it will have cost them if they do go down with it being so tight at the bottom. But if they stay up it will have been a great effort.

Dutch Blades I see Mart Lieder has scored 30 goals (about 1 per game) in the Eerste Divisie for FC Eindhoven, who are mid table. Do you know much about him? Worth a look? I know it's a poor standard but it's a lot of goals.

Also, Jonathan Okita? Scored 18 goals for Maastricht, from the right wing by the look of it. Only 22 years old.
Lieder had a great season but I don't think he's even near Championship level. Okita on the other hand is a player that has something special and we should definitely keep a eye on him. He's playing play-offs this week so I will give you a update about his performance this week.

If Swansea stay up I'd like to see us go for Mcburnie on loan, had a good spell with Barnsley scoring 9 goals in half a season for a relegation side.

Peterborough have transfer listed 13 players including Jack Baldwin and Chris Forrester.

Baldwin's the young CB we were linked with in Wilder's first season. Versatile and decent on the ball. Seemed highly rated.

Forrester's the main one that would interest me. He's not been at his best for a while but is a classy playmaker with great composure and ability. Badly needs a new start. If he's available cheap it would be an interesting opportunity.

Ricky I think Okita could be a decent signing for us. Not 100% convinced if his physique is good enough for the Championship but his technique definitely is, and he can play on every attacking position, which is a big pro. 1 year contract left, so fee would be 1-2 million I think and his wages are not a problem.

Another possible signing, but this one is highly unlikely but if Chelsea doesn't want to sell Mason Mount yet, we could try to get him on a loan deal. My club AFC Ajax is very interested in him but don't think Chelsea is gonna let him go for under 10 million. But Mount would be the best player in the Championship by a mile.

Unfortunately due to the ongoing ownership wrangles, it would seem fairly pointless to suggest any players that would be subject to anything more than a minimal transfer fee at the moment.

As someone who works in M&A, albeit not the leisure industry, I know how long such negotiations can take, especially where there's also litigation involved. As much as I'd like to believe that things will be resolved quickly and amicably, I just can't see it so would suggest waifs, strays and free/very low transfers may be all that Utd are able to target over summer. How the selling of a major asset (Brooks, Fleck, O'Connell etc) would remain to be seen.

At least it will put a stop to those suggesting players like Jordan Rhodes and Mitrovic :-)

Jamal Blackman - loan
Aden Flint - permanent
Omar Abdulrahman amoory - permanent
Lee Gregory - permanent

Flint would be a good signing, plus JB did well for us so will help improve our defence.

Not sure about Gregory. Maybe missed the boat at this stage of his career. I'd have hoped to see a boost to our budget but I'm probably dreaming. Expecting our manager - hopefully Wilder - to compete against teams with upwards of ten or twenty million to spend is nigh on impossible. As for a forward(s), pacey, intelligent, and fearless would tick many of the boxes we need ticking....a couple of decent, skilful attack minded players would be essential signings. Will be interesting to see how Coutts has progressed too, his quality was sorely missed, so his recovery is something I'm sure we're all hoping is going well.

A couple of left footed centre backs if we want to get some competition for O'Connell (and Stearman).

Sonny Bradley - Plymouth CB. 6 foot 5 and comfortable on the ball. Scores a few. Could play in the middle or on the left, but without bombing forward too much. Still has his best years ahead of him at 26 years old.

Murray Wallace - 25 year old Scunthorpe CB. Strikingly similar in build and style to O'Connell. Was their player of the season last season and has been a mainstay again this time. LCB would suit him very well, could also play in the middle.

Both of these have got a lot of football under their belts in the last few seasons, playing 40+ games in each. That will have been great for their development. They're both still quite young for centre backs and look primed to step up a level and develop further.

Oliver Norwood, brilliant and creative midfielder now back at Brighton. Might be a couple of million ?

All three of them scored at the weekend!

Looks like Andersson has a relegation release clause and can leave on a free. Must be worth a look.

I'd like us to be looking in that league as these three seem ideal on paper. fuerstenberger do you know much about these players? And generally how would you compare Bundesliga 2 to the Championship?
