Possible Summer Targets

If Villa go up I would love us to go in for Jonathan Kodjia, would cost a few million but he would be a bench for Villa in the prem so its possible

With the boardroom wrangling going on and McCabe having a reasonable chance of keeping control I just don't see the budget being any different this summer to last. The only way we will spend big bucks is if we sell Brooks and I'd rather keep him and go with what we've got again to be honest!

Hogan may be a cheaper option he’s nowhere near there first team either.

These players will end up at Middlesbrough/ Derby etc and everyone will say what a great signing by Pulis / Rowett this is.

We already have two old Kodjias up front. :)

*Hastily researched random foreign player suggestion*

Benjamin Kololli - Highly versatile 25 year old wide midfielder who plays for Lausanne, who are currently bottom of the Swiss league. Right footed with a good ball striking technique. Scores and assists at a consistently decent rate. About 6 foot tall and a strong runner. Has played plenty of games on the left and at right back. Would appear to be a good alternative to Ben Marshall. QPR were said to be watching him last summer, along with Frankfurt, Basel and others. Contracted until 2021 so I doubt he'd be too cheap.

Who also cost them over 10m, as did Ross McCormack.

Ridiculous the amount of money they've frittered away. Really hope they don't go up this season, they'll be up shit creek if they don't.

Bruce will demand more money as the 50m he's already spent isn't enough to get out of the Championship, it'll get turned down and he'll leave for Cardiff.

Mazraoui might be still possible on loan, signed a contract and starts today in the first 11, but think he's available on loan next year. And he's damn good. But gotta be quick.

A left-back is also needed and a fast striker. Maybe Umar Sadiq? (AS Roma)

Leo da Silva Lopes - 19 year old Peterborough midfielder. Versatile skillful player good pace and agility. Was very highly rated and watched by top clubs, but seems to have stagnated in the last couple of seasons, which could open the door for a move to someone like us. Appears to be out of contract in which case compensation would be required, but if it wouldn't be too much then it would easily be worth the investment. If we lose Brooks it would be good to bring in someone like this.

Marc McNulty?

I didn't share of lot fans dislike of McNulty to be honest. One of the best natural finishers i've seen at the lane for quite a while, just a shame he was so inconsistent but if he's sorted that and his off field habits out then i'd have him back.

His performance up top on his own against Southampton in the cup is still one of the best striker performances i've seen at the lane in a very long time.

Even if we sell Brooks he wouldn’t reinvest the money, tell me when EVER has the money been reinvested....oh yeah never, would make no difference.

Luke Garbutt from Everton. Left back who has been on loan at Fulham and Wigan over the last two seasons. Ex England U21, 24 years old and been told to find a new club. Good pedigree, lost his way a bit and has something to prove.

Great shout.

Oliver Norwood , Charlie Mulgrew, John Egan, And if we had loadsamoney Olly Watkins.

Jayden Stockley - I wonder if he could be worth a punt from Exeter? Tall 24 year old striker who seems to have a fair bit of guile. I've not seen much of him but he's had an excellent season for them, scoring 19 league goals so far and 22 in all comps - maybe it's his breakthrough season.

Duckens Nazon - What a great name that is. Another 24 year old lower league striker, he's been in L2 and L1 this season with Coventry and now Oldham, on loan from Wolves. From bits I've seen on the highlights he has something about him, good pace and ability. Wolves will let him go easily.

Scott Kashket - Wycombe attacker with skill and ability above L2 level. Left footed, small and tricky. Scored at a good rate last season and was highly rated. Could be a good time to pick him up because he's not done anything for a while - he's been injured all season.

All three of these appear to have one year left on their contracts.

What about a loan move for Brahim Diaz from Man City? 18 years of age, attacking midfielder, made a few appearances for the first team this season. Clearly not going to get into City's starting XI any time soon so a loan with someone like us would do the young lad some good.

Clip made mostly from youth football games, but Pep has clearly seen something there.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Jagielka yet.

May be available on a free and perhaps be up for reduced wages to come back to the Lane with a 2 year deal.

To those of you that are going to say 'His legs have gone!' - A) They haven't and B) Wright was hardly quick last season and he was a revelation. That middle of the back three defender in our system requires an experienced head able to marshall the defence. He'd be amazing with JOC on one side of him and perhaps Leonard on the other.

I'd also like us to get Robinson from QPR as he can cover LWB and JOC if required. I'd go in for Jay Dasilva on loan from Chelsea too as the first choice left back. That way we have loads of cover for wing back, which has caught us out this season a few times. It's such a demanding position and you need to rotate a little to keep those players fresh all season. We'd have Da Silva/Stevens/Robinson for the left and Baldock/Freeman/Leonard for the right. If we move on Wright and Lafferty that would make us really strong at the back. I'd have Blackman too.

I'd leave the central midfield alone as I think we've got players that need a bit of game time to develop into really top players. I'd suggest signing another attacking midfielder to challenge Duffy/Brooks but we've just signed Holmes so i'd like to see how he gets on before making a kneejerk decision to sign someone else. I also see Brooks as a striker now. I think we should start playing him as one, which would also mean we don't have to sign as many strikers. He'd be able to score goals and develop his game and value much easier than having to learn how to basically play in midfield. Let's take off the shackles with him. He's obviously a special talent.

As others have said before me, Ameobi would be a great shout, as he'd be a free and he offers something we don't have. He runs at players with such pace and is really powerful. In the same team as Brooks, teams would struggle to deal with that. He's also got versatility in the locker and we'd be able to change system in games easily which Wilder likes to do.

Blackman/Moore

LWB - Baldock/Freeman - RCB - Leonard/Basham CB - Jagielka/Stearman - LCB - JOC/Robinson - LWB - Da Silva/Stevens

LCM - Fleck/Evans RCM - Coutts/Lundstram (cover - Slater/Basham/Leonard)

AM - Duffy/Ameobi/Holmes
ST - Brooks/Mcburnie ST - Eisa/Clarke/Sharp

That's 7 signings which we'd be able to source quite cheap. If we loaned Da Silva, Mcburnie and Blackman and got Robinson, Jags and Ameobi on frees it'd mean we've strengthened the squad loads and spent very little. It shows it can be done.

If we do have a bigger budget, we can pad out the squad with these and then blow the majority on a single, quality striker instead of Eisa.

That's what I'd do, anyway.

Think i agree with nearly all of that, but i think Basham needs more competition at RCB. Think he's a great guy and plays with a lot of passion, but think we need someone more naturally defensive there.

I think that's pretty much what I'd go for. Might be one too many at LWB and I'd want a RCB to surpass Bash so the only change out of that for me would be Da Silva for Thomas Lockyer (if we av muneh) or Adedeji Oshilaja (if we dint av that much muneh). Both a good age to improve with lots of game experience and an ability to get forward like JOC does. Mentioned them both in earlier posts on here so I'll not go into too much detail.

As an even cheaper option there's also Curtis Nelson at Oxford whose contract is expiring in the summer. Again good age, strong and quick so in his element at RCB. Captain there so has the leadership checkbox ticked that Wilder normally goes for. Only problem is he's just recently come back from a big injury (ruptured achilles tendon) but signs are good so far that it's not had lasting damage as he's stayed in the same form he was in before.

It's lastly worth noting that they were just 2 points off the play offs until he got carried off in November. The fact that they were flirting with relegation until his return (which just so happened to coincide with their wins against Southend and Doncaster which ensured safety) shows that he plays a huge part for them.

Seeing as we have some sort of relationship with Chelsea, two possible/sensible suggestions are Lewis Baker & Matt Miazga on loan. Miazga is a tall, left footed 22 yr old CB, currently on loan in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem. He's also a USA international. It's usually Chelsea's strategy to loan players into Holland, and then usually loan them to a championship club. However they have sent players to the prem & germany if they are deemed good enough. Miazga has been in Holland for two seasons, and Vitesse are currently 7th in a league of 18, although Miazga has been receiving very good reviews.

Lewis Baker is the more problematic of the two. He's got all the raw materials to be a top midfielder, but at 23 yrs old, it's just not happened for him. Coming through at Chelsea he was seen as a superstar in waiting, and he was a stand out performer for england from u17's to u21's. Wednesday got him on loan in '15 in the champ, and thought they'd pulled off a scoop. He struggled, the loan got cut short & he went to MK Dons in L1. He spent 2 seasons at Vitesse Arnhem and was a stand out player, playing the 10 role or in the centre of a midfield 3, scoring 15 times in 60 games. He's now on loan at Boro this season and it hasn't gone to plan. Those that have dealt with him say that he has it all, good attitude, hard working, two footed, plays forward, square and back and he scores goals.

I have not really paid attention to Miazga this year but Lewis Baker is definitely quality.

Dutch Blades I see Mart Lieder has scored 30 goals (about 1 per game) in the Eerste Divisie for FC Eindhoven, who are mid table. Do you know much about him? Worth a look? I know it's a poor standard but it's a lot of goals.

Also, Jonathan Okita? Scored 18 goals for Maastricht, from the right wing by the look of it. Only 22 years old.
