What good would investment do ?

The better a players reputation the least United will manage to get out of him

We should stick to what we're good at...........hoofers and hackers without a footballing braincell between them.

They can be driven on by a madman in the dugout from Sheffield who'll "eff" them inside out every time their lack of footballing braincells show that they have a lack of footballing braincells,

And they'll be driven on by a crowd who wouldn't know or understand quality if it bit their bollocks off

It's the only thing that works at this club, and the only thing that ever will

And people wonder why it's always other clubs that get major investment
Pinchy?

Bit of a disingenuous question given that you're assuming someone who wants to take us over will then want to invest money in us outside a minimum.

We don't have possible points deductions and transfer embargos hanging over us it's not the best but we could be 6 or either 12x worse 😉

Where, where, where did my post say I was accepting mediocrity? There is nothing mediocre about being a well run football club, generating revenue, attracting large, passionate crowds, being a beacon for the local community, giving people something to belong to. That's not mediocre is it?
Faceless, here today, gone tomorrow, put it back in the loft, have a look at this spreadsheet football clubs requiring more "investment" (call it what it is - fucking debt). How mediocre.....
I don't go to the games for trophies. Never have. Memories, moments and collective experiences. Basically the romance.

I don't like tgat our owner is so strongly linked to Saudi Arabia so I'd be happy if he sold up. Certainly don't want more investment from that sort of source

Never found any romance at the Lane. It's not through lack of trying, always have a shower the week of the match and sometimes accessorise with a jauntily tied scarf.

That would depend on how any investment is spent.
We've not done that well with over £100 million. May as well had £100.
Shocking waste of funds tbh.

Obviously the wrong scarf .

Try a rainbow one and make sure you’re carrying a copy of Dusty Springfield’s Greatest Hits .

Sigh. I don't know. My rallying call would be - be a football fan, as in the kicking of the ball during 90+ minutes, on a designated rectangle of grass with some plastic chucked in.
Don't lose your shit about anything with a Pound Sign on it. Don't be a fan of three windows to save the club. Don't salivate over players who we don't really know will be any better than what we've got. Football. Remember. There's so much energy & brain power wasted on how monopoly fans would run the club. I can't get involved. I didn't dream of having to worry about all the surrounding shit. It's about footballers playing football.
Buying a football club isn't real. Nobody turns up & hands over the money in notes & asks for a receipt. It's all morse code sent over a radio signal. "Your bank confirms you have received X million". Fucking joke. Football. Remember.
Anyway...... I'm off to Ollerton Town v Penistone Church

If every club in the Championship have new owners/fresh investment then only 3 out of 24 clubs get promotion and 3 clubs get relegated to League One

While I think we're a pretty badly run club, and wouldn't be shedding any tears if the Prince left, a new owner isn't required for us to be challenging at this level. Teams like Luton, Millwall and Coventry are challenging for the play offs. How much have they spent to do so?

Plus, it would depend on the new owner. Since the Prince became sole owner, it's pretty much been a disaster on and off the pitch (not just for us, but seemingly for the rest of "United World" too), but that's not all down to him. And there's no guarantee that a new board would be any more competent. Whatever one says about our owner, he's not even the most clueless owner in Sheffield. It could be worse.
Didn’t we three years ago fit into the Luton Coventry bracket ?

I’d just like us to have a little more proportional success in the near future. Comparable clubs like Stoke, Boro, Birmingham, Bolton, Blackburn, Fulham, Pompey, Palace, Watford, Burnley etc all seem to have had sustained spells in the PL. One or two have had a League Cup win and a European Tour, albeit a short one. I’d give my right arm for a bit of that. Other clubs have dropped on big cash like Leicester and Wolves and pushed on, changing the stature of the club and transforming the faculties, academy, commercial operations, etc.

We literally have one (or two) seasons at the top table then we’re (disproportionately IMHO) skint and mediocre for the next decade. Back to selling our best assets and surviving on crumbs. It feels like the rug gets pulled every time.

It’s a bit sad really that we never get it together. So yes please, bit of extra investment to break the cycle, be it alongside the Prince or someone with deeper pockets.

A point to consider. It's entirely possible to attract investment on a large scale and to retain values, be at the heart of your local community, generate revenue (for the club and the wider area). I look at Man City, albeit as an extreme example, they've transformed the surrounding area and retained extremely 'local' links to the communities around them. I imagine the club must employ thousands of people be it through their academies or outreach programmes. I don't see one or the other face of the coin being entirely exclusive of the other but it's undoubtedly a very fine line to tread to get things 'right'.
At the "Etihad campus" it even hosts the HQ of the Rugby Football League.

i think culturally the only place the Prince will look for further investment is in his peer circle so probably would be Saudi, i too am a bit uncomfortable about money coming from there but like most would overlook this if it meant success on the pitch. This holy grail of the PL disturbs me mainly because of the imbalance in funding it creates. In reality seeing good attacking football played with passion and skill is what i want to see regardless of division. The wilder season getting out of league 1 was one of the most enjoyable seasons i can remember watching and i go back as far ( with clear memory ) as 1974/5 and some spells of us under SJ are also good to watch. Just wish we could learn how to defend!

I like the prince. He tried to invest in the club with PL funds, and he is now paying the price for Wilders spending ambitions.
He is not the enemy. Newcastle have sold their soul to uncertain funding. Burnley have gone the same way. The other Sheffield club could have got quality investment from a Thai source, like Leicester did, but Chanseri has made them look bad.

It’s a lottery, or a unethical investment. Stick with the Prince. Guaranteed, but accepatable mediocrity. Unless Slav has reached his ceiling, but that is still to be confirmed.

Prince is waiting until Jan to spend big on the signings slav needs, then it's onwards and upwards. Prince will never be happy until we win the prem estimated to be in the next 3 season. Sit back have a pint of stones maybe a bag or 2 of pork scratchings and enjoy your Saturday. Utb

It's not the owners or the spending that's been at fault here, It's what that money has been spent on that's the problem.
As for those who want the team to make top six in the Premiership with all the money that would bring into the club, just remember that the season we nearly made it with the team we had was nothing short of miraculous.
Some people tend to forget that up there are teams with one hell of a lot of money, who not only have the budget of a small country but also have a lot of say on how that league runs.
Anybody who thinks football in the Prem. is a level playing field is kidding them selves ..... ;)

Squad needs a massive refresh as many have run their course. And not sticking plaster loans. Prince needs to find some money, or an investor, very quickly indeed.

Be careful what you wish for had McCabe won the court case we would be owned by the American hedge fund who are now setting about asset stripping Burnley. I'm still in favour of the Prince but only just the guy really needs to up his game .................... a lot.

it is worth having a glance at the owners McCabe had lined up

Who found the Prince ? though I believe that he was over here looking to invest in Leeds at the time. Not sure if that is fact though.

We need an invester, just like we did before, not someone who will strip what's left after McCabe divided up something that's never been divided before.

Shit show from everyone involved

We are in the shit again, the prince from an oil-rich country. Skint no chance of new players coming in.No club wants to buy any of our players-Burke,mousett.mcburinie.
No club wants to buy them. because they are very poor players.

We don’t know that there are no buyers.
Maybe the Club is not prepared to sell whilst we have players missing from the match day squad.
January is rarely a month when quality players who want to be in the Champioship are available. I will make my judgement on the overall ownership in September.

New owners doesn't necessarily just mean more money, I'd be hoping for new ideas and new structure. Like every other fan of a club outside of the Prem that isn't Fulham or Bournemouth, I want us to emulate Brighton or Brentford so we can rely on something more than us getting our decade's worth of 'luck' in one or two seasons. It looked like it was happening here two seasons ago when we were flying high but since the covid rot set in every element seems to have gone stale. I think the club needs fresh impetus, the Prince and his entourage still have a connection to the old McCabe way of doing things it feels.

I am a bit surprised that Sir Chris has not made any approach for our players who he bought. mind you we all would be in a better mood if they had not thrown a two goal lead away.
