Let's do it, let's win the title!
We need to stop beating ourselves up about this.In answer to the question posed in the OP - we’re still in the top 6 ourselves.......

We didn't miss the play offs because we failed to beat teams at the top it was more that we had poor results against teams at the bottom e.g. Bolton (H), QPR (A), Hull (A) and gave away silly goals to teams like Cardiff and Milwall when we should have won.We won 3 out of 12 against the top 6 last season.
Right.A minimum of 6 points is required for what to happen? Realistically we are a top 10 side with a chance of the play-offs if we over perform. Why do we so desperately need to win the next 2 and what happens if we don't?
Right.
I’m not expecting you, and many others, to “get” this.
We are 5th. Just after a defeat.
We play good football.
We have a good manager.
We have good players.
We ARE a genuine promotion contender. Most other clubs managers, players and fans recognise this. Shame a boatload of our own fans do not !!
I do. I genuinely think we should now aspire at least to a P.O. spot.
As such, my post was “suggesting” that in order to push on again, and further raise expectation levels, we MUST aspire to beat lowly placed sides. Especially at home.
The alternative is to aspire to an unspectacular, unambitious mid table campaign.
You know where I stand on this.

Bladey high ground.I like how you think you have some form of Bladey high ground because you consider us a "genuine promotion contender" and I still think that it's something that remains to be seen.
As you say, we have good players, a good manager and play good football. Some other teams in our league also do this as well and as the season goes on some will get better, some will get worse and some will stay the same.
It's September, we don't have must win games yet and I don't think we need to get overly critical if we don't beat Birmingham as long as we put in a decent performance.
I don't think anyone aspires to be a mid-table also ran, I'd be upset if we don't finish top 10 and have a good crack at the play offs, but I'm not getting all dramatic about it a few games into the season, we were top further into last season and ended up mid table so it shows how things can change fairly quickly. Losses now aren't a disaster, it's how we play and how we react to a loss that matters.
Lost all 3.
Not sure how we fared last season against top 6 clubs without looking, but as the teacher said...."must do better".
We won 3 out of 12 against the top 6 last season.
Bladey high ground.
Pinch will be impressed with that !!
I don’t doubt your wrong fwiw. Much water to go under many bridges. After 7 games, nothing is achieved at this early stage.
But let’s also consider that the typically Yorkshire dour / defeatist/ woe is now attitude many of ours fans regularly demonstrate really should be going in room 101.
It’s time !!!!!

We would obviously lose if we played us though
If your minimum from the next 2 games is 6 points Dronnie, what's your maximum?5 of our 7 games have been against (current) top half sides.
The next 2, both at home and against (current) bottom 4 opponents will really show our credentials for what they truly are. One way or another.
I hesitate to say 6 points required, but that’s what I really believe is the minimum here.
UTB.
And I thought I was good with numbers, but you have got me with that one !If your minimum from the next 2 games is 6 points Dronnie, what's your maximum?![]()
we won't be near top 6 until we get a quality striker
Sensible comments indeed, all I would add is that momentum and carrying consistent form into the play offs is crucial. Fulham took things to the extreme but we’re seriously under achieving (until they beat some team 5-4) in the fourth month of the season. Far better to hit top gear next May, whereas last season for lots of reasons we were a busted flush by then.I like how you think you have some form of Bladey high ground because you consider us a "genuine promotion contender" and I still think that it's something that remains to be seen.
