Lost all 3.
Not sure how we fared last season against top 6 clubs without looking, but as the teacher said...."must do better".

Other teams in our position might have settled for a draw. We don't and we get punished for it at times by the better sides. It's a hazard of the way we play but I'd rather play this way than boring cynical football.

They way we play and also I'd hazard Wilder's love of 'shit-or-bust' substitutions.

If the aim's top six, we don't need to beat more of the top six we just need to improve a notch from last season on our results against the rest.
A game like today isn't a great sign as it's one of those where you want to grind out a draw when you've lost a key player.
Conceding a late decisive goal also isn't great given how many times we did it last season.

We need to improve against the top 6 but that being said Bristol won’t finish in the top 6 so it’s irrelevant compared to last season stats against the ‘top 6’.

Wonder how we did against sides who were in the top 6 at the time of playing, that would take forever to compile though and I certainly can’t be arsed.

Bristol City were not in the top 6 before today’s game. They were 7th. Bolton, by contrast, were in the top 6 when we beat them. So your thread is inaccurate, as well as silly.

We don’t have the back up players to cover when we lose a key man in midfield as today.

That may change once Coutts is back fit to play.

In answer to the question posed in the OP - we’re still in the top 6 ourselves.......

If you don't think we settled for a draw today then you didn't watch the game. We settled for 0-0 after about 65 minutes.

We did sit back later on but I thought that was more fitness than anything else. They looked fitter and stronger than us as the game wore on.

Oh and we hammered Villa when they had just dropped out of the top 6, but obviously that doesn't count.

It's a regular feature for home teams to come on strong when not put to the sword by the opposition we are not alone losing this way.As Wilder alluded to we should have had the game won top teams have come unstuck this way. It's just about how often it happens, hopefully not too often to us this season.

5 of our 7 games have been against (current) top half sides.

The next 2, both at home and against (current) bottom 4 opponents will really show our credentials for what they truly are. One way or another.

I hesitate to say 6 points required, but that’s what I really believe is the minimum here.

UTB.

A minimum of 6 points is required for what to happen? Realistically we are a top 10 side with a chance of the play-offs if we over perform. Why do we so desperately need to win the next 2 and what happens if we don't?
