Play off Final

Glad Hudderfield won I hate Reading they are a nothing club who got where they are due to a rich owner, too many of that sort in the prem and a few of the south Barnsley floaters will go there next season tather than the sty hahaha

I would have preferred Reading to have won, purely because I'd rather have travelled to Huddersfield than Reading's soul less ground.
It didn't surprise me that the game was goalless. Often in a play off final, neither team wants to concede the first goal. I don't necessarily think it is representative of the championship.

Top Manager.

I too would love to see Mooy score a winner. As a season ticket holder at Melbourne City I got to see what a talent he was and how he emerged above the rest of Australian football. Such a modest and humble person too who lives for the game and this increasingly surprising season he is having is nothing less than he deserves.

Hi OzBladesman, moved to Melbourne/Flemington in January. Are you still about and watching City/Blades (on telly)? Would be good to build a bit of a network. Was invited out by Sydney Blades a few months ago (as FIFO to Sydney most weeks) but couldn't make it. Without angering the thread police (nee nor, nee nor) then what are your thoughts on A-league/Australian players for United? Rojas for city looks like a player with something about him (although I think he has already done Europe and failed to some extent)... just wondering if its a market we could exploit.

P.s. I am in no way advocating the return of Monty (now retired) or David Carney (FFS!) and I am cognisant of the fact that a Liverpool exhibition side (with Carragher, Gerrard and McMannaman (sp.)) just easily dismantled the champions at a canter.

How many of you saw Huddersfield play in the top flight at Leeds Road? I saw them draw 1-1 with Spurs in Sept 1970 and draw 0-0 against us in March 1972 (we had two good goals disallowed)

First game I ever went to was Huddersfield 0 Liverpool 1 in that season. They had a bit of a cup run and beat someone 4-2 in the 5th round and I was given a pack of sweets by the turnstile bloke.

Having watched a few games in the Championship this season and all the play off games, I can honestly say the best team lost in the semi-finals.

Better luck next season Fulham.

Was on the big terrace for the 0-0. Pretty sure one of the disallowed goals was Gil Reece.
Spent a couple of years working in Huddersfield and, by the time I left, all the Town fans in the office were calling our friends from S6 "pigs". Delighted for them..

I officiated in the very last game ever at Leeds Road. It was a Northern Intermediate League cup final (first leg against Donny Rovers).

Hi, I'm the Wednesday hating Town fan who drew the report - found the link here from my referrals and already had an account from when I came on to thank you for the friendly response when I did a report on the 2012 play-off final. For those who remember - my wife is a Blade so it was a difficult day ;)

They're absolute f***ing weapons, most of those Owls, aren't they? We've had crap from them on our forum for ages but most vanished after the Forestieri penalty. Just want to say good luck next season, I really fancy the Sheffield derby with the wife if we can get tickets from friends.

One other thing - I know we looked crap yesterday and in truth we've looked poor for weeks. But we fully deserve that promotion - the football we've played at times this season has been like nothing I've ever seen (wasn't alive when we were last in top flight) and yesterday shouldn't be taken as a marker for the standard of the Championship. When 2 organised teams face up like that then it can be dull, but I've seen us take apart Brighton, Norwich, Villa and other more expensive set-ups this season. We've lacked goals and didn't land our transfer targets last summer so made do with Wells and then Quaner in January who was also not our first choice target. But we've played some brilliant stuff, a completely different ball game to the previous 3 years at this level.

All the best and thank again.

Massive congratulations. Didn't see one Blade who wasn't rooting for you yesterday. You're not bad at pens at Wembley are you? You bastards ;)

If you want to top off your day then sign up to Owlstalk and look on the "other football" section. Apparently you have abused the loan rules and need punishing. Not to mention that the Premiership don't want you in the league as it will be harder to sell. Wednesday and their million overseas fans mean the Premiership is missing out by them not being there.

Yes it was Gil Reece (the first disallowed goal), ran onto the left, cut inside and hit a right footed swerving shot to the top corner of the net. Think the linesman flagged offside one of our strikers who wasn't interfering with play. Goal would have stood nowadays

I had one of those vulvazela things when we played Wolves in the final, the bloke infront was not impressed.
Hoping Udders win today for purely selfish reasons cos it'll be easier for us southerners to get tickets and to see utd at Reading.

Vulvazela? Sex on the brain again!

I think you mean Vuvuzela a 2ft long plastic horn, rather than a 'singing fanny'. The mind boggles although I can think of one recently signed player who may have had an unfortunate experience with a 'Vulvazela'. ;)

I think I was right the first time. Everytime I blew it the people nearby would say "do you have to blow that you *ucking *unt" and hence my mates renamed it the vulvazela cos only a *unt would blow it. Maybe one for the twats thread.

.

I've really enjoyed your reports over the years, from Curtis Woodhouse with his scythe to the Kevin Pressman pie-eating machine. All the best and good luck in the prem!

Congrats to Huddersfield. Well done for reaching the PL. it must be good for football when an unfashionable club with reportably a small budget can get to the PL. Just shows that if you have a good manager what can be achieved. It bodes well for us. We also have a very good manager but also have the advantage of more support, probably more finance (but without going stupid) and momentum from this season. As I understand it they have got some really good players on loan. Mooy their best player? May be a pointer there for us. I like the fact we are trying to buy Young hungry players from L1 & 2 but if we could also sign the next Tammy Abrahams or Moy or a top CH on loan?
