How Hecky is able to bring in what we need will be key. He's working with both hands tied behind his back and the seemingly endless soap opera that is the sale of the club or investment into it just adds to the size of the task. We need to milk our good reputation for developing young talent in the loan market and try and unearth a couple of Anels.

Getting Man City out of the way early is great, and also good to play Spurs and Everton before they have chance to recover confidence after their dire run-ins in the season just gone.

I'll go for 8 points from a possible 15:

Palace D, Forest W, Man City L, Everton W, Spurs D.

But more pessimistically, if we win any one of those games and lose all the rest we will still have more points on the board after 5 games than we did at Christmas in the Covid non-season, so happy days.

Personally think we need to get rid of the inferior complex. Despite the first amazing Wilder season it used to piss me off to no end the amount of times Wilder used to say "yknow, we don't really belong here and we played our hearts out and took 3 points today" or something to that effect. Does not help the players or fans and it gives the opposition something to build on

The team belongs there, its not necessarily going to be easy but realistically we should be expecting to take any points away from Palace, Forrest and Everton. Palace (albeit only just) finished bottom half last season and Everton / Forrest narrowly missed relegation. We even have a pretty good record against Spurs, I think over the years we're relatively even when it comes to wins and losses.

BUT when I have a spout of optimism it rarely goes unpunished so well likely get hammered by all 4 and somehow take 3 points from City

Now we have the official fixtures, how is everyone feeling around the first five?

Man City H
Everton H
Tottenham A

3 of the 5 at home, but 2 of them against the top 6. Palace, Everton and Forest is hard to gauge, but a lot depends on who we all bring in also respectively.

I think it’s a good start, and a great chance to get the “need a win” duck off our back. The only one that we’re getting nothing from is City imo.

Definitely some winnable games, Everton and Forest in particular. Palace and spurs a lot depends on their activity this summer.


Obviously Man City we should expect a win and clean sheet.

But be happy with 1 point from them two.

City at home obviously 0 points.

Palace and Everton I'd be buzzing with 4 points.

But I'd say 5, 3, or none is a more probable outcome.

Not that I'm hedging my best at all.

I reckon that we'll get anywhere between 0 - 15 points, but I'll stake my mortgage on it not being 14.

Obviously yet to see how Spurs go under a new manager but I’d fancy our chances against them at the Lane every day of the week.

That typical ‘Spursy’ type team never go well at the Lane, same as Arsenal were. One of the few teams in the top half of the Prem that you can beat just because we fancy it a bit more than them.

Any positive news is good news, just wouldn't have liked that fast front 3 against our defence.
