Furlough wasn't invented for the Corona virus. It just means mandatory time off, it doesn't indicate pay, which can be between nowt and full pay.

Companies/entities can furlough employees whenever they like, have done before this shitfest and will do post shitfest.

Furlough is the title of the government scheme, invented by Boris Johnson.

I am a successful business woman and I am educated on things like this.

You are a fucking dimwit. Stop conflating “furlough” and the government scheme. As others have said, furlough is standing people down because there is no work. How they get paid is a separate issue.

Just been watching the 6am Beeb news this morning, we are paying furloughed staff their full wage and not taking the govt scheme, the club are also allowing those staff who are furloughed to volunteer to help NHS...etc.

If you read this article it does say the 80% so are the club paying staff 80% or is that 80% from elsewhere?

That’s standard practice with every furloughed role
You can go and do voluntary work trains etc so it’s not a club stance it’s a mandatory requirement which says to me we will be using the government scheme by May

Completely agree with the article been saying the same for weeks. It's easy to demonise footballers because they are in the public eye, hated by many for their massive wage, and working class.

Many would prefer it if footballers got paid minimum wage and all the profits went to the shareholders. Tory politicians wouldn't have a peep to say about that.

I haven’t seen it yet, and but I get the alias from the current memes and twitter comments.
Not seen what else they’ve posted, but that post made me smile knowing what was coming.
Then again I’ve been reading Twitter for the past couple of hours and have seen the criticism we’re getting from fans who either haven’t read the article or haven’t understood what furlough means.
