Incoming? Phil Jones

I think he'd be an expensive risk and probably a flop. He has had a few good spells throughout his career, so I don't think he's as bad as people make out - it's probably down to confidence. BUT, I don't think we need to take that chance with someone like this - as I often say, it's an Aston Villa signing.

There's better, less expensive, younger options out there.

You dont play for Man utd or England if you cant play or pass a ball,we also dont play out from the back not like most teams do ! cant see that changing much this season .
Some teams play themselves into trouble doing that.We rarely attempt it !

He's not a 'shite' player, as some have been suggesting. But personally i don't think he could do what Basham and JOC do. That's not to say Phil Jones isn't a good 'defender', as you say, you have to have a certain something to play for England and Man U.

Also re playing out from the back; we play out of the back when it's appropriate to do so i.e when we're not being pressed, hence me using the term 'sometimes'.

The "appropriate to do so" excuse is understandable when we lump it front in the last few minutes, but we lose our pressure game then as invariably we lose possession. I think Jones is worth a gamble as he may have lost his speed but he is still an intelligent player.

I'm not in the least bit interested in being fashionable but he really is shite, dogshite infact.
I seriously hope we are looking at better than him.
Even I’m not shit at football and I’ve never looked like playing in the Premier League.

Have I missed England being good?

If it was "you don't play for Brazil without being half decent" or Spain, or France then there might be something in it but England?

Get out of town.

If this is true, surely a back up for Egan (if he stays). I can't see Jones advancing forward like JOC and Bash. Mixed feelings on this, at times decent, at times utter, utter tosh. But having a bit of PL experience (like we did with Jags) is really useful.

In his early days at Blackburn he used to run out with the ball from the back a lot. Played midfield for them too. If there is any truth in this I imagine it will be for the Basham role.

Phil Jones and Jack Robinson, overlapping down the wings

I'm telling you that's where he will be played though. He has played on the right of the Man U defence when they went with a 3 too.

He's more than capable of it
