I’ve just had a peak into the dumpster fire that is BBC comments on Blades articles. Deary me, this hoof ball, dirty, physical, relegation fodder tag that’s peddled by clueless premier league fans is not only gathering momentum, but it’s also starting to get right on my tits.

To be honest social media is over run by fools and wind up merchants out to cause mischief.

Most opposing fans seem to go out of their way to insult other clubs.....it’s not just Sheffield United....apparently loads of teams are crap.
Us and Norwich are the easy targets...so we attract the keyboard warriors who thrive on being bullies dishing out abuse and sarcastic comments.

Social media i(especially with football) s showing the worse side of human behaviour.
There are many people who might lack confidence and self worth, probably small and feel insignificant.
So to make them feel better and more powerful they go around dishing out abuse, being racist, sexist, any kind of ism.
They hide behind their keyboards and get perverted satisfaction from riling or upsetting other fans.....they are sad people and there’s loads of em.

Not completely surprised by some of the criticisms we've received, best just to concentrate on our game and collecting points. What other supporters thing is irrelevant compared to the greater issue of remaining a Premier division club.

It never fails to amuse just how much overreaction there is, from both away fans and some of our own supporters. Before the season began it was repeated that we'd lose games, and possibly heavily, but how on earth do you learn if it's not through falling short? Wilder will learn, and so will the players, but no one's suggested it will be an easy ride. Getting a grip seems appropriate, but no doubt the opinion of those who consider themselves equipped to pontificate and act like managers will override this basic thread of common-sense.

It's been this way for many years and gets ever worse with the growing pomposity of everything that surrounds the big guns in the PL.

The ignorance and lack of respect in some circles for the so called lesser teams stinks at times.

The disdain shown by some pundits for teams who simply can't afford the top players stinks. They behave as though if you can't compete on the same level you should bow and curtsey to them.

You’ve got Chelsea and Arsenal fans from Singapore and Ghana arguing over who has more trophies. Liverpool fans being Liverpool fans no matter where they’re from. They’ve won it 6 times you know? The Man City have no fans BANTZ. Then the likes of Keith, 47, Man Utd fan from Barrow-in-Furness and Jake, 13 Liverpool fan from Hull offering their opinions on teams like us, Brighton and Burnley.

Fucking horrible place.

We all know that's not the real United, but to be fair to "Premier League fans" who have only taken notice for the last 3 games, don't they have a point? We haven't played much decent football at all so far and have been a bit too negative and direct for my liking.

That's not having a dig, it's new territory for us and might take a while to get in to full flow. It's true though.

To give anyone a taste of the type of stuff written on the BBC site there’s one poster (Bianca Jackson5) who after the Bournmouth match wrote.

‘Sheffield United are doing really and deserve credit because people need to realise that they’re a small club that is playing its 1st season in the top flight”

I replied explaining that’s its actually our 61st season in the top flight and guess what?
After the Palace match he or she posted the same post about we’re doing well considering it’s our 1st season in the top flight, so corrected her again.
And guess what? After the Leicester game he or she had again posted how well we are doing considering it’s our 1st season in the top flight.

It’s not an abusive comment, in fact in quite supportive in a belittling way so it doesn’t contravene any rules.
But what’s that saying.....if you keep repeating lies over and over again.....then eventually people start believing you.

Blades fans are all repeatedly treated like we're a bunch of factory workers who've won a competition to go in the winners enclosure at ascot. Full of "bless 'em, they're going to have a good time, no matter what" comments and we're all knowingly "enjoying it while we can"

Then the teams. Their nose was so far up the Leicester squad that writers could smell the team's dinner before they took a bite while the blades were these flatcap wearing workers who'd doff their caps at halftime as Leicester went off. Horrific.

What doesn’t help is that there are pig fans trying every trick in the book to damage our reputation.

Also I get the impression that the BBC site and much of Twitter is infiltrated by lots of 14 to 18 year olds just wanting to dish out negative criticism.

BiancaJackson5 is a transparent WUMer Sheffsteel. I also replied to one of their posts believing they were just confused, but when they later posted that Brian Deane scored the last goal of the 'old League One' against ManUtd as a piece of 'interesting trivia' it became obvious they were lookin for bites. Likely a bored Pigfan.

Allowing for the fact that some fans seem to be pissed off just because we didn’t roll over for their heroes, it’s totally obvious that many of the comments on social media are made by goons who’ve only seen the game’s highlights at best. They've actually no idea how we play and assume we’re the same battling Blades that earned the long ball reputation under Bassett and Warnock. A typical example of that was the totally made up patronising garbage by the ESPN Guy.

What we should all remember though is that we went through more or less the same crap in our first season back in the Championship, (remember the Brentford fans pre and post match comments for our first home game?). Eventually though we got the credit we deserved, and most opposition fans and the media became very complementary about us. It might seem worse in the Prem because of the intense media spotlight we’re under, but if we keep playing the way we are and hopefully getting a few results we’ll get the credit that we deserve eventually just like Bournemouth have.

All that said though, who really gives a shite what the likes of Danny Mills and some lonely keyboard warrior from Barnstable thinks of us. We’re Sheffield United.

At least 90% of football fans don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. They see what they want to see and I include myself in that. I love watching United I meet my mates, have some beer watch the match in a 100% partisan fashion then have some more beer with my mates and talk shit about the match. I don’t post these tactical thoughts on the game on social media as I am self-aware enough to know that a) it’s probably bollocks and b) no one really cares. Unfortunately self-awareness doesn’t exist much on social media.

Take the Leicester pre-match “view from” it’s just inane drivel like “We need to start at a high tempo....we need to press them high. I despair that people have taken time out of their day to post such boring shite and actually think that other people want to read their fucking bullshit opinions.

I read the "match report" in Daily Mail ,The Verdict, & it was nothing but a poorly written article about James Morrison. It contained 1 "Sheffield United" & 1 "Bramall Lane"! It could have been written by a 15 yr old who has a crush on Leicesters midfielder after watching MOTD. It even managed to bring Raheem Sterling ( Brendan Rogers ex mgr) into the story. This is typical of sport's reporting nowadays & unfortunately I think we'll have suck it up.The apology for a reporter was a Gareth Hope. The player I saw on Saturday spent most of his time trying & succeeding to con the ref around the penalty area (& guess who took the resulting free kicks). No wonder CW talks of being cannier on the pitch.

I asked my mrs to get me a 'paper today when she went out & she brought back a copy of The Sun . I didn't want to read it I am spray painting something & just wanted something to do the masking, anyway in their football pullout I thought I would read the match report of our game, & it appears we still don't register with the "big boys", as it consisted 98% of an interview with Brendan Rogers & his thoughts, & 1% at the end as an afterthought about our part in the contest.
