This will be the first season in quite a few where we will have to find our own parking, we used to park on the top of the hill near Heeley (I think it is) before we got a parking space with the club. However, this season we need to find somewhere new.

I don't want to be walking too far cos I'm lazy. Does anyone know where I might find some parking? Or if any more restrictions have been put up anywhere? Somewhere near the Lion would be good.

Thanks in advance :)

The restrictions aren't in place yet nearer the ground so you'll be able to find on-street parking on the residential roads if you get there early enough.

we usually park up myrtle road... near the lion and usually plenty of space around if your down early enough...

There's SOME street parking on Park Grange Road (up near the college/B&Q) but that is a good 10-15min walk... depends how early you are. Also there is a free car park near London Road (on same road as Lion) but at other end where the pharmacy is - again if you're early enough (or lucky) that has a few spaces. I've managed to get parked in there at 7.45 before - as I say, lucky!

Well I park near the Golden Lion which is residential and I get there about 12.30pm on a 3pm k.o but it will be full come 13.30.

When you say get there early, for a 3 o'clock kick off what time would you reckon?

Sadly, for that I couldn't tell you, as I'm lucky to see Saturday KOs these days. For night games, I'd say 7ish. So maybe 1pm for a 3pm KO? 1 is when the pub usually starts getting busy,

Just dont park on the bottom of east bank road, behind olive grove bus sheds. There is a lot of window smashing due to thieves, my dad was late for a game one day and couldnt park in our usual place so parked there came back to find passenger window put through.
They searched all through glove box and other compartments and all they pinched was half a pack of extra chewing gum, whilst leaving the full pack .
Luckily my dad doesnt leave anything in his car but a few others wernt so lucky 3 other cars were broke into losing money, ipod, phone, sat-nav and a laptop! why anyone would leave them whilst going to a game is anyones guess.
Sadly seems a frequent sight on this stretch

Just a word of warning of a hotspot

It's very rare that I drive to a game these days, I'd rather have a pint ;) But when I did drive I used to park by the flats at the bottom of London Road, my mates gran lived there so I knew the yellow lines were rarely enforced. There was ample space and it was only 2 mins to the ground. With the added bonus that there wasn't really a problem getting away with the traffic. As I said that was about 5 years ago but its worth bearing in mind as a potential spot.
P.S. La_Blade inc. can accept no responsibility for damage to your vehicle/parking tickets incurred if using this location :D

Thats where I always park and you're right, break ins are a common sight. I make sure I leave nothing in the car at all and hope for the best. If it was my own car, rather than a company one, I'm pretty sure I'd find somewhere safer.

Yeah, i usually go with my dad as he has a company car, either that or i just catch the bus due to the idiots.

the window cost £596 for a passenger window  genuine bmw replacement id hate to think how much the heated windscreen is. but like you said its a company car so it wasnt his pocket but it did cause an inconvienience

The reason this is a hotspot is because there are no houses there so its obvious you've gone to the game. The thieving bar stewards know you'll be away from the car for a couple of hours so it's easy pickings. The break-ins happen during the week as well because all the students from Olive Grove College park there as well. It's a similar situation at the bottom of Midhill Road/Myrtle Road in Heeley. They are even very likely to be watching when you get out of the car with your United colours on and watch you walk towards the ground.
I would try and park on a residential road in a line of parked cars and try not to make it look obvious you are going to the match. Pain in the arse I know but do you really want the inconvenience of a broken window?
As you said Loon, nothing of value taken, nothing on view they just bust the window on the off chance there is a Sat Nav or something in the glove box.
It's nothing to do with the roughness of the area as well because if its the same twat who has done my car twice whilst it was outside my house he doesn't even live round there anyway and needs hunting down so that we can pull all his fingernails out one by one.

Happened to me , SCUM I'd love to meet them.

Luckily didn't have anything in there as I'd seen plenty smashed before but like Ecco_Blade always hoped for the best.

lol I don't leave home till 12.30, think I'll look on the hill like the old days.

If you mean the hill up near Heeley City Farm, you'll be lucky.

It's all double-yellows these days.

In my country u can hire a bike at every railwaystation....

To be fair though... Sheffield isn't exactly the best city in the world to attempt to cycle round if you don't fancy a heart attack :D

I park up at Sheffield Station, its a 5 minute walk but its all free for me thanks to a car park permit to park up there gratis

Olive Grove for us. Has to be early though as all the good spots have gone by 2:15. You can still get a space further up the hill, but it can be a bit of a trek...

[Edit] On second thoughts, its really not that good...
