Not for anything important or to settle an argument, just for my own FYI because I can’t remember.

Have we conceded a goal this season while Harry and Anel have been on the pitch together?

Thanks in advance.

Yup. Leeds' 2 goals, Middlesborough, Bassette's for Coventry before the red card, Bristol's penalty?

Not at Bramall Lane, but quite a few in away games.

I don't think missing Souttar is all the problem. When he was suspended for three games we drew one, won two, keeping two clean sheets along the way.

Losing Souza has had a bigger impact for me. Since we lost him teams have run through our midfield time and time again where they've created overloads in our box. Coincidentally we started to concede more goals.

Since losing Souza we've played 6 league games, won 3, drawn 1, lost 2 and haven't kept a clean sheet in the last four.

For all his chest thumping antics at full time, Peck just isn't doing the job effectively. He was okay alongside Souza, but since we've lost Souza we've lost bite from our midfield and Vini's ability to break up opposing attacks.

We still need to replace Souttar, but more importantly we need Souza back.

The double whammy of losing Souttar and having Souza injured is tough. If Anel got injured I think we'd be in real strife, so strengthening CB is number one priority for me.

Said this for a while. Since we are not blessed with goals or high quality chances, our success has been largely down to our solid defence. That has been weakened significantly with the loss of Souttar and Souza from midfield. If we don’t strengthen it back up, I expect to see more Sunderland-type defeats.

The lack of chemistry between Anel and Robinson is really noticeable. Anel was great when he had Egan two years ago, and he was pretty good again when with Souttar. But as soon as he's with Robinson he becomes a shadow of the player he can be. Maybe it's Robbo's rumble-tumble style of defending that brings the worst out of Anel. I don't know.

JLT is useful back up in this league, while still still error prone.

Anel has had other well pubicised issues, but he’s now coming good. Anel used tote forward and score more when he first joined. Maybe Souttar has influenced his game more.

He missed one match( 2 bookings)
Gilchrist will be used more as a CB if we sign Jonjoe .
Which doesn't cure our lack of height though so need a big CB.

This, Souttar commanding the box meant that teams couldn’t hurt us in the air and so had to try and work balls around us. Currently, slinging speculative crosses into the penalty area, from any angle, is likely to cause panic and so pays dividends. That means that teams of comparatively limited attacking flair who, previously, would have been managed comfortably, are posing problems

It's worrying the rumour mill has gone silent on centre backs. More urgent need than Hamza, BBD and Canon and no convincing targets mentioned. This is one area we surely need to look abroad for.

Our biggest gap is Souttar shaped.

So this should be sorted first.

Get an injury or ban to one of our CBs and we are in big trouble

Hoping the silence means a CB is signing tomorrow

Stats anyone? This season in the championship, mins on pitch per goal conceded:

Souttar 161 (11 goals in 1769 mins)
Anel 107 (14 goals in 1502 mins)
Robbo 101 (12 goals in 1214 mins)

So Souttar absence makes a big difference. But most noteworthy….

Vini 214 (8 goals in 1711 mins) - a huge gap we haven’t filled!

If any team lost 4 of their 6 most influential/in-form players at once they'd struggle.

Cooper ✅
Souttar ❌
Souza ❌
Arblaster ❌
Hamer ✅
Campbell ❌

Obviously arguable in terms of most influential, but I think it's fair to say they've been most people's top 6 so far.

Other mentions may be...

🔴 Anel (was missing for 3 games during the same period)

🔴 Moore (was injured during the same period)

🔴 Rak-Sakyi (also injured during the same period)

🔴 O'Hare (can apparently run forever)

🔴 Burrows (again, thankfully appears to be quite stable)

I reckon most people would pick the names on this list as our best performing 11 players so far this season...and we've only had half of them available (at most) for a lot of recent weeks.

Add in that Seriki, RND & Shackleton have also been injured...Peck is only 20 years old and had knee surgery last year...Tom Davies is just back from a monumental injury debacle...Brewster is made of glass.

Any team would struggle under those circumstances

A very logical summary. Anyone else looking at the big picture?

Sydney Peck had both knees operated on last season. There were pictures of him in hosp , must have been nothing serious as he came back quickly from both.
Find of the season for me ! a talented player who has a great engine like O'Hare
