On RS this morning..

More outgoings it seems......

The management had better know what they are doing!!

So could soon be 2 out and non in.

Management know what they are doing? It is the responibility for Blackwell, McCabe and the 'chief exec' to get us some good players. Doesn't sound promising does it!

Good job we didn't get into the play-offs so we could start our rebuilding promptly this summer.
Anyone know the whereabouts of SUFC's soul?

Over there Len, on that shelf, with the "For Sale" sign pinned to it.....

As I've been saying - any money bid for one of our players they are sold - no negotiating, no saying no, just sold.

I'm no longer angry - just sad.

Now, now lads come on be fair. It must be the World Cup playing havoc with our recruitment plans...

;)

I think I am close to walking away. They can keep my money but they are not getting anymore

According to reports this morning (no reason to doubt this one!), QPR are doubling his salary.

OK smug chuffs! Hands up all those who would listen to any plea for loyalty and offers from your boss to stay if that pay increase was on the table?

Thought not!

It's not the fact Paddy is going for the money that pisses me off, it's the fact that the best we've come out of contract negotiations with him is a new contract with a release clause of under £1 million. From a position of relative power.

That's an absolute scandal. Fucking joke SUFC. Absolute joke.

It feels like my club is going through a slow painfull death, will somebody do something, why oh why do we always get rid of our best players, or give them away for the first price offered, it breaks my heart. this feels worse than the Robbo period, at least we had some good players, OK they were playing shite but they were good (ish) players, what have we got left, right now I can't see us getting any decent players in, as a footballer would you come here, hoofball reputation and not many full time players around you.

Couldn't agree more with the sentiments in both these posts

I suppose sum wud say sellin Paddy is not bad news
more to cum.................................. what a pisspot club we are !

sheffielder; I haven't seen anyone having a dig at Paddy?

Cannot see why anyone can have a go at Paddy. As SEB stated he has a chance to double his salary and at the age of 32 as a pro footballer he should take it. The rest of us would. Why not Paddy?

The clause was in his contract so SUFC were quite happy to accept the terms. I am guessing that the clause existed so that SUFC would not lose out on the money they paid Paddy during his ban. Fact is there are clubs out there with more money than SUFC - will always be the case.

Maybe my boss might re-evalute my worh to the company and negotate something towards that as best he could?

Of course it's bad news! But he was made an offer he couldn't refuse, nothing different to any player. If the rumours are right Rooney will be faced with the same dilemma on a much bigger scale!

No doubt Chesterfield felt the same way when we nicked Ward off them.

Chesterfield to sign Jeffers apparently. :)

While I don't like Paddy's release clause I can at least understand why he had it. The club had to ensure we got something rather than nothing for him, especially if the financial situation is a precarious as some would like us to think.

Surely after a drug ban they could of cancelled his contract and not paid him for the last 12 months. I wouldn't have put one in full stop.

Then you would of lost the club money? They could of sacked him and gotten no money, they got him to sign a contract on reduced terms and now unfortunately a transfer fee. The fee more than covers the wages so you would just have written off half a million or so.

Is part of the medical a drugs test?

If Paddy goes and we can sign Simonsen then that would be good for me. If Paddy goes and we end up with a Mark Bunn then that would not be great.

Sod that, if Paddy goes and then Blackwell follows that would be good for me :)

SS would be a great replacement, I'd love it to be true but can't see it.

Surely they could have put a bigger clause in? just shows what goes on behind closed doors. Paddy says he owes united everything but wants a release clause?? What do you get for 750k now a days 2 Andy Taylors an a couple of cans?.

I owe the club my career because you don't know what could have happened," said the 31-year-old.

"Another club might not have gone the same route. But everybody has stood by me and I can't repay them enough."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You could Paddy, you could stand by them , as they stood by you

I was happy to whinge at the transfers of Naughton and Walker, definitely unhappy with the underpayment for Beattie, pissed off with the undervaluation of Jagielka, not to mention the unprofessional handling of various contract negotiations, but I find it difficult to find fault with any party in this likely transfer.

Chesterfield hadn't paid a drugs cheat for a year to do fuck all.

Guesty; Chesterfield hadn't paid a drugs cheat for a year to do fuck all.

Harsh to the extreme. Paddy is hardly a cheat. Brainless I'll grant you but not a cheat.

Maradona - now there is a cheat. Hand of God and a positive drug test during the World Cup in USA in '94.

Paddy is a choir boy in comparison. Besides, if SUFC didn't want to sell him for that money then he wouldn't have had that clause in the contract.

At least we know now why we didn't sack him last summer. Ker-ching!

What the hell is going on? And it seems like we were fed a load of crap at the fans forums.

I really feel for KB to be honest, say what you want about the bloke but he's working with a half empty tool box. It's McCabe's snake like backbone that's really letting us down.

Come on though. Do you really think Paddy would have accepted such a low contract without a release clause around that level? Paddy's agent had to insist on a clause around 750k because few clubs wouldn't pay around a million for a 32 year old, notorious for personal issues who had only played a couple of games in around a year.

There's a reason why it's Neil Warnock and QPR who are in for him, and not a Premier side sniffing around a solid keeper for a low fee. If Warnock didn't get the job at QPR, we'd still have Paddy going into next season.
