As a member of the (very) over-70s club, I wish to protest in the strongest terms about...er...summat I think I might have read , or was it what someone said, about summat that were important if I could only...er think what it was, Oh, I will be going today but do not intend to catch anything on purpose. Probably.

I agree with you Swiss. The health experts have told us that older people with weaker immune systems will suffer the most. I think if I was over 60/70 and or, had any existing health issue eg heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems etc I wouldn't be going to any large public gatherings. I'm just hearing on 5live that in Italy 200 have now died. Italy have banned attending some sporting events. This disease is serious. The gung ho attitude is not going to stop people getting infected. People of all ages need to take responsibility for their own hygeine to prevent spreading it but unfortunately too many wont care. We could be looking at a total ban soon anyway, not just over 70s and it will depend on the number of new cases in the coming days. Of course, it would have to happen in the most enjoyable season we've witnessed for decades! If i was in my 60's and had any health issues which could be impacted by a flu like virus, i would be very wary about Corona Virus.
A blanket ban on over 70's seems a bit much on the face of it, but considering that older people perhaps suffer more with these types of viruses, then perhaps people should be considering self isolation anyway (as far as possible).
Governments all around the globe as well as health organisations are issuing such strong advice, which makes you wonder what is behind this when it appears to be really strong flu...
Are you suggesting that governments might not be telling us the whole truth about this?Governments all around the globe as well as health organisations are issuing such strong advice, which makes you wonder what is behind this when it appears to be really strong flu...
Ha ha no, i'm not looking to start or jump on any conspiracy theory, but its something just doesn't seem to add up.Are you suggesting that governments might not be telling us the whole truth about this?![]()
It's a well known fact China was developing a bio weapon which was being tested on chickens but some low life scum of an animal rights protester decided to save a few. These were then sold on to the happy egg company who then sold them on again after a week as they wouldn't lay enough eggs, the said chickens found their way to Wuhan market just as the 2 week incubation period was up and the rest is history. Are you suggesting that governments might not be telling us the whole truth about this?![]()

Discrimination (from an employment perspective at least, whether applicable in this case I have no idea) is legal in the eyes of the Equality Act 2010 providing it is "a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim."Have the PL mover heard of a little thing called discrimination, if it's true.
Shit. Don't remember that being taken.
If the government decide to advise at risk groups to self isolate, and not attend public events, it would be sage advice.
You must remember. The day after we got back from the Bangkok foam party?Shit. Don't remember that being taken.
Yes, if the risk to them was proportionally higher.Would the advice be the same if the"at risk group" were, say, a racial group or other minority?
There are, so far, 165 cases in a population of 65 million! Just work that out as a percentage!! I'll take my chance. If i was 60/70 and had a higher chance of catching a disease that would give me 10/15% chance of dying I’d probably give the football a miss at the weekend
Just bury me on the penalty spot.We could just have a 'bring out your dead' break at half time.
At full time any corpses left over in the stands can be gathered up and both lots piled up in a corner somewhere for the council to take away

The virus thus far has shown itself to be entirely an equal opportunity virus. It does not respect the norms of geographic boundaries, or the colour of a persons skin or religious persuasion.Would the advice be the same if the"at risk group" were, say, a racial group or other minority?
PM'd you :I very happily travelled on trains to Away Games on my Student Railcard until 2018. When I turned 60 and bought a legit Senior Railcard. Fake IDs & Birth Certificates present NO problem to the Carrier Bag Firm. We also maintain one set of "Deported From" Passports & one set of "Yet to be Deported froms". If you've never seen Day Of The Jackal, now would be a good time to dig it out.
My daughter aged 50 has chronic asthma. She shouldn't be coming to games. Apart from dodgy knees I'm fit as a fiddle, so I will continue to go to games. If i was in my 60's and had any health issues which could be impacted by a flu like virus, i would be very wary about Corona Virus.
