Hecky’s half time change from them fucking about at the back to just getting it forward onto our awful defence worked a treat. We made Jebbo look like Drogba for 25 mins.
We did but how many chances wasted at the other end did we have! Cannon should be scoring his chance from 6 yards out any £10mill striker should at least be making the keeper work

The change from 3421 to 4231 for this game didn't work and I dont understand why Wilder decided to set up that way. Burrows is more effective in a wing back spot...1st half he rarely attacked. Tanganga McGuinness and Mee are better as a three with Ogbene as wing back. Ogbene as part of a forward trio meant no cover for defending and going forward receiving the ball at a standstill.

We got a glorious start to the game but in the second half their power, pace and attitude steam rolled us.

There are a few easy targets out there because they're not any good. And not being any good is not their fault, so I'll restrict this to those who should/could do better.

At (or just before) half-time I thought that the defence and centre midfield had finally clicked, but that was a mirage because during the entirety of the second half it was back to keystone kops. The number of opportunities we give up is amazing and this result would have happened at Blackburn too if they had been a better side, like Preston.

Then I see some blaming the keeper, who has not been up to his standard this season but had absolutely no chance with any of those goals.

Soumari should have been on before he was actually introduced as we were already being played through with ease through that giant hole in the middle of the field. He was the one sub that actually made us better instead of worse.

And could someone let me know how many assists Peck has produced so far in his fledgling career as he's playing far too many minutes for a young midfielder who neither scores nor creates enough?

If I'd been asked at half time comments may well have been different because we had been better all over, but all the previous faults returned in the second.

It will be a long time before we're clear of relegation worries.

The whole team simply aren’t fit enough. Every game, they are blowing after 70 mins. No wonder we sit deeper and deeper. Tonight, Burrows, second half, had no gas left to take on his RB

Bang on. Been saying this since second half V Bristol City at home. We aren’t fit, we blow and fall off the pace. We’ve got decent depth in squad which is slightly saving us but overall, we should be fighting more than we are. On selles that.

We were cooked. We needed to get that third and/or get to half time without conceding. These are baked in problems so don't expect anything to change until next season. I would've snapped your hand of for three points from the last two and will be genuinely surprised if we get much from 2-3 game weeks. I'm not shocked in the slightest. Watching O'Hare bustling around second half compared to the rest of the team (Campbell lol) really is chalk and cheese. Hopefully none of them are injured after the last two games and we can gradually build them up as the season progresses.

The Cannon one was probably the most difficult of the 3 chances with Burrows and Soumare missing easier.

No shots on target 2nd half is piss poor.

Agreed looking at the fixtures we are very much already at the point of pick the ones we can’t afford to lose. Mid table be a pipe dream at this rate. We have to go after Derby and then if we win that we can afford to rest a few/rotate for Cov away as I don’t think we are taking anything from that. QPR, Pompey and Wednesday are the trio after that.

True but definitely agreed got to hit the target. I genuinely wouldn’t mind if their keeper like at Blackburn was pulling off great shot stopping saves least the effort was there.

In fairness to the RB he showed Burrows inside every time and it worked apart from the right footed cross where O’Hare missed.

Will still stand by it, I still personally believe it was a mistake to sack Hecky when we did. He is a great man manager and motivator. Being 2-0 up if we “want to have playoff ambitions” should have enough to see out that game and we should have had a 3rd and 4th

I’ll stand by it……he’s a very average manager….not bad and not good
Preston is his level and the best he’ll get. Good bloke though and likable but it’s not a popularity contest.

If we are ambitious then we need better than Hecky who is OK.
If we end up in league 1….beggars can’t be chores and at league 1 level Hecky would be a good appointment and I’d welcome him back.

Thought it was a weird match….we were so comfortable 1st half. PNE were so poor….almost felt sorry for their fans.
Then they score 2 lucky/ avoidable goals from nothing and it’s all square. Then suddenly they look a decent side and it’s us that looks poor.
Wilder will be furious but it’s a lesson learnt….dont get complacent when you’re in cruise control.

I can remember four. O'Hare X2, Soumare, Cannon. Maybe an O'Hare chance was 1st half? It shows what a bad league it is when we have excellent chances second half.

Playoffs ambitions let’s start with finishing 6th bottom as a success

Blimey, I agree with practically all of that, apart from their first goal was lucky?????

We have one player in our entire squad capable of scoring "lucky" goals like that and he's currently injured.

If I was Hecky there wouldn’t be any chance I would be coming back. He got thrown under the bus with “Wilder gate Mk1” so Wilder didn’t have a relegation on his CV. He got us to an unlikely playoffs to lose to a huge spending Forest before following it up the following season by bringing through probably the best player of our generation in N’Diaye. Along with a FA Cup semi-final that arguably saved the club when it was struggling to pay bills, he managed autos too. Then he was thanked by having N’Diaye and Berge cashed in so we were threadbare against Palace and sacked in the December, at a time where realistically no one could have saved us from the drop and that isn’t on managerial quality it is on purely on spending. Looking at Preston they usually are an upper mid table championship side. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hecky got them into the playoffs
