It was McGuinness’ man, but he was injured and Mee didn’t cover until far too late. Piss poor all round. Tanganga got rinsed on the wing and allowed the cross, McGuinness (struggling to move) was out of position and Mee didn’t see the danger until too late.
For me it all stems from having poor centre halves coupled with wingbacks who are poor at the defensive side of the game.
Ogbene isn’t a RWB so we need to stop playing him there. Burrows doesn’t stop crosses and struggles against mobile wingers.
We’ve backed ourselves into a position through poor recruitment where we have to play 3 CB’s because they aren’t good enough to play in a 2 and the fullbacks we have are Seriki (always injured) and Godfrey (god knows?!) on the right. Burrows and McCallum on the left.
McGuinness is most effective in the centre of a 3, but his only strengths seem to be heading the ball forwards from a straight ball to his head or kicking it forward from a straight ball to his feet. Anything over the top he struggles with and he’s slower than my dead nanna when he runs.
Mee is old and slow, obviously was a good player but is struggling to play regularly and maintain any kind of form. He stands off his man too much. Him and McGuinness both seem to think they aren’t the man to mark the forward and it doesn’t work.
Tanganga is Anel but not as good, looks good one minute and poor the next. Makes rash decisions and you never feel

confident with him, but he does get out of trouble against the odds at times in an ungainly way.
When you think that Wilder has had the likes of Basham, JOC and Egan, Anel, plus Wright, Cranie etc. he’s got no chance with the current lineup really has he?! Such a come down from those days.
Then you compare George, Enda, Bogle, Lafferty, Freeman et al. with the current full back and wing backs it’s night and day.
No wonder we concede so many goals.
