Apologies if I missed it but I thought we needed a thread of this nature as the season approaches.

Just thought it might be worth laying out what everyone has done. I mean, we finished 5th, 3 teams ahead of us went up and the other are just about to lose their 2 better players. Does that make us the best remaining, even without Gibbs-White?

You have a look through and nobody has really done amazing. West Brom signed a few but all back end of their 20s. Burnley have been active but they've lost a lot of quality, so have and so will Watford no doubt. Norwich sticking with what they have but no Buendia there to bag 16 goals and 27 assists this time around.

Anyone you're especially concerned about at this point?

There's always a dark horse and this season I'm saying Millwall

Burnley will be strong as will the other 2 relegated teams. Luton will be awkward again along with Millwall challenging for play off places. West Brom will be difficult to play against Brucies negative style. Boro will depend on how much of Spences fee is given to CW so he can bring some forwards in.

Us depends if we go out and play on the front foot or adopt a safety first approach 3-4-2-1 v 3-5-2. We currently lack a goal scoring forward but the biggest risk to a good start is our injury record.

I actually think Hull have done some interesting business to capture their fans' imagination.

Not saying they will be contenders but they've spent more than you might expect.

Whatever business other clubs have done, its up to SUFC to make sure ours is better and that it manifests itself on The pitch over 46 games.Failure in recruiting correctly and better than our rivals leaves us At a disadvantage before a ball is kicked and so falls on management and players to up their games to bridge the gap,so are we gonna get the firepower we need in, and put ourselves above our rivals in quality and give ourselves a better than average chance,or are we going to be trying to hold on to the coat tails of those that have?

It's the first ten games, that's all I'm worrying about, that'll sort the men from the boys.

I can see boro as a shit or bust season with wilder, and they'll make the playoffs or he'll be gone (one way or the other).

Burnley will struggle early on, or take to it like a duck to water as will Watford.. Its a premier league thing, always unpredictable but one of them always carries the gloom down with them and carries on playing terrible, they could both start shite couldn't they with some of the squad sticking the bottom lip out and feigning injuries.

WBA, well they have too much money not to feature, and as said above have added to a pretty decent squad, so they'll be thereabouts like last year, a meltdown in January again is entirely possible when new blood comes in on bigger wages and upsets the apllecart..

Don't see Norwich as a threat because the biggest asset (farke) has gone, can see thier "current and easily forgettable manager" becoming the first sacked championship manager, he's Darren Moore level..

I don't focus too much on signings, especially with the relegated prem teams, it's how they pick themselves up and dust themselves off after coming down.. If all three of them have a shit start, we might have a real chance cause once you start bad it breeds a lack of confidence from the manager and through the squad and we know how hard it is to dig yourself out of it..

Will cause problems but not really trouble the top 6..

Hull
Blackpool
Preston
Millwall
Coventry

If we'd signed 'a few' a la West Brom we wd be salivating as both Wallace and Swift are players many of us wanted at the Lane.

I think they will 'do a Bournemouth' this season even with that idiot of a manager
Be very interested to see that midfields balance with both of them on pitch together

Nobody on here fancy Sunderland ?
When I was reading the list I was thinking that exact same thing. They have the support but is that enough to spur them on in a difficult league. Either way it will be a tough league again next year, there are teams that could easily slip, I don't think there will be much separating 6th-18th

Also worth noting in the PL Leicester have signed no one and Rodgers is kicking off about lack of signings.

I agree with this - Hull IMO will surprise a few as will Preston

Surprised nobody has mentioned QPR as potential dark horses - high quality coach taken over, some astute signings and cleared some rubbish out. Probably need another striker to replace Austin though.

On the flip side, Reading's business has been awful and look a decent bet to go down.

Good post.
I was literally looking through all the other teams transfers yesterday.

On paper you could say Burnley, but I think there's a fair chance their transfers/team don't adjust very well and they struggle a bit this season.

Overall I don't really fancy anyone except probably Watford and Norwich. But I have heavy reservations about them too!

Luton most likely to maintain their status, with some decent signings as well.

Personally, even missing an attacking option or two currently, I think we're big favourites for Top 2. Please Blades....

That’s the spirit

To sum up : Reading and Rotherham to go down, with the top 6 coming from the other 22.
