Ollie Watkins

And still no bids ............
for Lundstram. A proven goal scoring Premier League midfielder and yet if he played for Bournemouth we'd be in a bidding war to get him!
Fucking Villa. Fucking Fulham. Fucking Leeds. Wankers the lot.

Let's forget this one, it's way beyond what we we are looking at presently.

Fans need to get real, the manger has spoken today and this sort of transfer is well beyond the current owner.

A team that barely beat relegation offering a Championship player 70k a week is ridiculous. I sincerely hope they fuck it up royally. Dean Smith is gone by Autumn, Villa go down, and someone picks up Watkins for no more than they bought him for next Summer.

Offering those kind of wages for an unproven player at this level is insanity. Villa seem hell bent on destroying themselves in my opinion.

In any case, we will finish above them again this season, unless they get rid of Smith early doors.

As much as it may seem mad if if helps keep them up the revenue they receive will cover their wage bill.

Can't believe some are having a go at the club on this and other threads for not going after Championship players who are completely unproven in the Prem and giving them £50k - £80k a week.

McBurnie scored about the same in the Championship before we bought him, for a far less accomplished team (yeah, they'd been relegated from the Prem, but they'd been picked at by the vultures). If we paid him £75k people would be bleeding from the eyeballs such would be their rage.

70k a week, considering OMB is on 20k, this is never going to happen.

This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone with regards the above nut job of a football club. The fact that they had to sell their ground to cover the financial f#ck up they created when they sneaked up via the play offs with regards to FFP, or whatever it’s called now, wasn’t a big enough alarm bell for Villa? They then spunked £140m (minus wages) on a pile of foreign mercenaries to stay up by the skin of their teeth because Hawkeye robbed us of a legitimate goal there. Not forgetting, Off the top of my head - £15m on Hogan & Lansbury. £14m on Ross McCormack, who barely played a game! Thank f#ck for CWAK

£70k a week is fucking insanity. I’d like Watkins ofc but anything over the £17ish we paid for Oli would be too much. We can find similar abroad for much less

Mmmmmmm........ why don’t we offer him £90k p/w and offer Brentford £25 million, string them along for a month working out terms etc. Then change our minds at the last minute. If Villa or Fulham top the offer in the meantime, more fool them.
or Is that what is happening to us?
I think Chris should hold on to his cards for the moment.

Where do we want to be?

Not spending £75k a week on Championship players.

If a proven Premier League/ top European striker becomes available and wants £75k, pay him it, I'd be fine with that, but buying 2019/20's Oli McBurnie but paying him 3 times as much isn't going to take us forward.

I agree absolutely. Thankfully last season we spent ridiculous amounts on fees and wages. This ensured that we competed against the likes of Villa, Bournemouth, Watford, West Ham, Newcastle etc who also risked their clubs financially.

This season is different as we have lost the players who got us a top ten finish. The ones who remain have turned to shit. The clubs who have come up are spending more than those who went down.

Am I the only one struggling to understand this post ?

Better spend then and back Wilder over Dean the wanker Smith cos if we go down we won't be.
Genuine question. From last seasons evidence, what makes you think Smith is likely to get it right over Wilder?
I really do worry about our fan bases expectation if they think we should have given Robinson £45K/week and Watkins £75k. There's a reason that no one else in the league are looking to match them either.
