Wasn't expecting him to feature. Away to one of the on paper better sides first up. Give up some minutes in the league cup and see how he looks against good pros

Talking to my Watford supporting mate this morning, he admitted if we had a midfield we would have done them
The consensus with Watford fans is if they loose sarr and Dennis it's going to be a long season

He should have been involved at some point last night. He would have at least added youthful exuberance to the engine room and not just gone through the motions. He would also probably be fit rather than 'give me 6 games gaffer and I'll be up to speed' like some of the usual suspects.

I think while accepting we were pretty dire we’re not going to be up against the quality of that front three every week. Dennis and Sarr are PL quality and Joao Pedro not far behind. Defensively they were solid enough but didn’t look special. Lose some of those before the end of the window and they’ll need to work hard to replace that sort of quality.
While I’m far from happy I am keeping my powder dry until things settle down. It wasn’t Gillingham away levels of rubbish after all

I think hecky needs to accept fleck and Norwood are done, don't get me wrong I love the idea of mctee joining but we desperately need a CDM for when Doyle is fit
Give the kids a go till its sorted
Tin hat firmly in place

Wasn't everyone saying this about Zak Brunt last season? He's on loan in the National League now.

I get that Fleck and Norwood were shit last night, but throwing this lad in and him having a few iffy games with our fanbase won't do him any good.
And if we carry on playing fleck it won’t do us any good

So because Brunt is, Arblaster will too?

We’ll never know if he is going to have an iffy few games, if we never play him. We do know that Fleck has been having iffy games since July 2020.

This.

I'd rather take the chance that Arblaster or Coulibaly will have an iffy game in midfield, than almost guaranteeing an iffy game by starting Fleck

The manager sees him every day in training.

He doesn't need to see you or I in a match at The Lane to know we're shite. Why doe she need to see players who he sees every day?

I have no opinion on where Arblaster is in his development. By all accounts he's very promising. I just never get the notion that the manager has to see a player in a league game to know if they're ready. Last season it was Jebbison being called for - it was definitely clear that the manager knew best there.

That said, it's time for a change from Fleck, who's finished I fear. Something's got to give in midfield.

I agree, I just don't think pinning hopes on a young kid with no league experience and someone who has just returned from Belgium having been a bit part player in a relegation team is the answer. We need another midfielder.

Happy to give him a go, just don't get too upset if he's not a world beater. I know what our fans are like and we could destroy a young kid if he doesn't play like prime Ronaldo from minute 1 of game 1.

Correct, it was the season before:

Yeah definitely. To be honest I can’t really recall there being any big backlash or upset about young players, who haven’t lived up to it. I think people are more patient and less quick to jump on them than if it was someone experienced who we had signed.

George Long comes to mind for me.
