One of our old boys. Any idea who? Probably dates to early 1920’s

Could be. It’s a good shout.
Yes, Jimmy Waugh who was unlucky not to play in the 1925 FA Cup Final, he had a neck injury. Played over 100 games as our centre back but struggled to cope with the new offside rule introduced in the 1925-26 season. Also, this one Silent Blade Possibly Waugh? Same kind of date.View attachment 238809

Not Pantling, will try to find outSilent Blade Difficult when there isn't another photo to compare. I have a couple of team photos from early 1920, but I don't see an obvious match for these two.
One more, what about this one..Pantling?View attachment 238811

Won FA Cup medal for both 1915 and 1925. Carried on living in Hebburn throughout his playing career but moved to Sheffield after retiring to football as he ran a shop at , I think, Abbeydale RoadView attachment 238812A more recognisable face, even with hair and in a suit. Nice he signed it though.
This postcard dates from the same time as the one above. The reverse has the same characteristics.
My maternal grandfather was gassed in WW1 too"Gassed and wounded in the First World War, Albert Rawson never had the stamina...."
Poor bastard.
Moving on from Chlorine, by 1917 the Germans had Mustard Gas, which was an oily substance that would cling to uniforms and cause agonising blister burns.

How deadly was the poison gas of WW1?
Gas terrified soldiers in WW1, but it killed comparatively few of them, at least on the Western Front. So why was it the one WW1 weapon to be banned?www.bbc.co.uk
My maternal grandfather was gassed in WW1 too
Same regiment? My grandfather, Harold Milner, joined the war when he was 15 pretending to be 16. After the war he went to Mesopotamia and Egypt. He was a war time policeman during WW2Mine too. Not that badly it seems as they put him back on the front line some time after where he was shot in the legs.![]()
