1948-49, only season Young & Hitchin on books together, both far right in photo.
Players all LtoR :- Batsman Colinridge.
Group of four on left, don't know but the one shielding himself maybe Dodd.
Crouching, ? ? Thompson
Back Row, Blakeman, McLaren, Warhurst, Latham, Shaw J, Smith FE, Brook, Ralph Morement, Cox, Young & Harry Hitchin

Cheers, not seen a photo of Ralph Moremont before so now I know what he looks like!

When I first saw the photo the first things I noticed how Dick Young (later coach and then manager at Carlisle) was expanding his chest and the young player (you think is Dodd) shielding himself! 🤣

A better photo of Morement, with an 'e', in the 'Who's Who' book by Clarebrough & Kirkham.
Regards Dodd, I can't find any references to him, I just remember the name from the early '50's and the photo immediately brought him to mind. He played no first team games, checked the bible, but, by memory a regular reserve team player, can't even remember what position he played.
Will anyone on here remember him? Hopefully!!

Garth Lee. Birchenall recalled in his autobiography that during a practise football session in training, John Harris was shouting "Hold the ball! Hold the ball!", Garth picked the ball up using his hands and held the ball above his head!

Never played for the first team. Went to Chester

I think he grew up in the Firth Park area - Revo Sr knew him when they were kids.

Came across this, made me smile...

...though the left axis is completely bonkers!

If I remember correctly his first game for us was in a home League Cup 1st Round 1st Leg encounter which we drew 1-1.

Apparently Verde thought it had been a friendly until he was told about the 2nd Leg after the game!

Lost 2nd Leg 3-1 I think. And I think that was Trenton Wigan's debut for the Blades, coming on as substitute?

Garth is the reason i grew up a Blade. My dad's best friend was Ron Lee who's son was Garth. Garth brought kit from the Lane when he called at our house. My dad was Wednesday through and through so was a tad disappointed with me 😀. The socks cane up to my arse and the shirt down to my feet but i loved it.. Garth move on to Chester then Ellesmere Port. Still lives there at the age of 79.
Wish i had kept that kit!

Mr Jimi Hendrix
Was a paratrooper in the USAF, ended up being honourably discharged after breaking his ankle messing up a landing.

Also got his start playing in bands while stationed abroad, surprising backstory for someone so beloved by the hippie set!

Trying to identify this game.
Blades shirt says 1978-79, red staunchion, top left, says 'The Lane', opposition?
