Yes - I agree. Back row didn't seem to go on and achieve the success/ prominence of the front row players.Fantastic midfield/forward line. Goalie/Defence? Not so much.

Lee Sinnott, Gavin Oliver and Stuart McCall. Easter Monday 1988. Blades 1 Bradford 2. Wally Downes sent off in the 8th minute after his return from suspensionTime for a bit of good old guess who.
This pic contains one player who would go onto play for the Blades and an ex-pig. Both are considered legends at the club they were playing for at the time, as is the third bloke. The Blade should be easy, the Wendy's a bit harder. The third bloke has no Blade or pig connections but is fairly well known.
Winner gets nowt but the thrill of being called a smartarse on the internet.

I remember thinking at the time that Wally Downes had immediately rushed over to the stricken Bradford player in an apologetic way. I also remember the Kop not being impressed with the red card or indeed the refereeing performance in general, serenading the ref with "Cheat! Cheat!" including a most vociferous blast at full-time.I heard that Wally Downes was sent off because of the the Wimbledon v Portsmouth rivalry in the 80's and intended to tackle Mick Kennedy, He got the wrong person and apologised to him, the Referee heard him and sent him off, Silent Blade can you throw any light on this ?
