1. Name the two players in the foreground.
2. What happened next?
Thought thad know't feller in't dark strip(red shirts), call thi'sen a Blade.:)
The legendary Billy Gillespie.
Other fella looks like George Hardwick's dad.
Blades won 2-0, OG(Parker) & Tunstall,

Time for a bit of good old guess who.

This pic contains one player who would go onto play for the Blades and an ex-pig. Both are considered legends at the club they were playing for at the time, as is the third bloke. The Blade should be easy, the Wendy's a bit harder. The third bloke has no Blade or pig connections but is fairly well known.

Winner gets nowt but the thrill of being called a smartarse on the internet.

I heard that Wally Downes was sent off because of the the Wimbledon v Portsmouth rivalry in the 80's and intended to tackle Mick Kennedy, He got the wrong person and apologised to him, the Referee heard him and sent him off, Silent Blade can you throw any light on this ?

I remember thinking at the time that Wally Downes had immediately rushed over to the stricken Bradford player in an apologetic way. I also remember the Kop not being impressed with the red card or indeed the refereeing performance in general, serenading the ref with "Cheat! Cheat!" including a most vociferous blast at full-time.

Yes he tackled Karl Goddard waist high and then said after he thought Karl was Mick Kennedy
