Not heard of this film until tonight. Watch from 42 mins 54 seconds

Thanks Silent Blade
Just watched most of it, I was also at that game, on the Kop.
It really gives the depressing view of Sheffield at the time. The unemployment etc... it was shortly after these times that I left Sheffield and moved abroad for work, never to live in Sheffield again.
In my reminiscing drink fulled state I also ended up following Youtube links to one of my favourite 45s of the time, wish I still had it.

It was Exeter City, there was a camera crew on the Kop near the railings which ran down the centre of the kop - the camera was actually a fixed to the railings.

As we left the match and exited the kop we walked up John St & the camera crew were filming - the code name for the film was “Firefly” which was clearly depicted on the side of the camera.

Bloody Hell, this article takes me back. My Brother sent this edition of ‘The Green Un’ out to me when I was based in Malta. BFBS radio had been closed down by Dom Mintoff the PM of Malta, for dedicating the song “I’m a Wanker” by Ivor Biggun, to him..
Don't know that one,"You Hum It and I'll Play it",,,,,,,,,,,never ceases to amaze me how often the truth hurts.

I thought I was miserable after a defeat. The Utd players looked devastated after the Newcastle match. Some interesting video, good memories.
Horrible day. Best bit was the wife and I sat waiting for coach to move after coming out, big line of them. A car pulled up along side us, four Newcastle fans with shirts on in it. Sunroof open, big mistake, a few blades picked a load of horse manure up and dropped it through sunroof. They were covered in it.

Well that was classy.

Pitsmoor Road. No date, reckon it might be the 50s?

One of the interesting things about pictures like these are the lack of cars.

My dad, who was a very keen photographer, even back in the 50's he had a Leica camera and took his own photos (and developed them) all over Sheffield. He took one of Margaret Street (near to the lane, when it had houses both sides) and there was only one car in the street - it was his! Only reason him and my mum could afford a car was because he was a car mechanic. My mother tells the story of 1955, when they could only afford 1 gallon of petrol per week for it.

It was hard in them days.

If people lived like that these days, a lot of people would be better off. Live within your means, don't take on debt, and only travel if you're willing to walk.

Less pollution, healthier citizens, wealthier citizens.

bit of a random one and the answer is probably in here but being over 720 pages and not many of the photos are titled its hard to find but does anyone have any photos of Alan Kelly from the coventry fa cup game in 98? working on a project and cant find that many of him apart from these 3. I was wondering if anyone had one when he was on supporters shoulders at the end of the game?

I realise this won’t help but... One of the glossy football magazines (think it was Match of the Day) had an inside cover that opened out across three pages with the picture from behind the goal of Kelly saving Dublin’s penalty. Had it on my wall in at Uni...as well my United flag in my window. ⚔️

Full-time after twice-replayed 1961 FA Cup semi-final against Leicester. Blades finally succumbed 2-0.

I went to all 3. Arrived at Leeds just before half time along with many fans from both sides stuck on the road between Barnsley and Leeds. (No M1 then). We should have won that game, but 'goal' disallowed for supposed hand ball by Doc. Not VAR then.

Never seen this before...

Neither have I and a wonderful bit of nostalgia, especially the SISU fans talking about tickets for the semi.

I guess the old lad who saw us won it in 1925 is long gone. There could still be a handful of people who saw that and are still alive, but I'd guess none of them still attend the Lane.

What a night!

I think it was 442. I had it on my living room wall - should have had it framed.

At the time I was living in Brackley in Northants and had a spare room in my house to rent so I bunged an ad in the Brackley Advertiser. I got a phone call from one hopeful so we arranged to meet at Tesco as it was about the only place in town known to him. He said he'd be there with his girlfriend.

At the appointed time we met up and walked the 15 minutes to my house, neither picking up on the other's accent as we made smalltalk. Once we got through my front door the first thing he saw was the poster of Alan Kelly's penalty save off Dion Dublin and also the official Sheffield United team photograph for the 1997/1998 season. He looked horrified for a second before he just about managed to speak: "I'm, I'm a... a Wednesday fan!"

I spent the next ten minutes going through the motions of showing them the rest of the house, barely a word passing between the three of us, all of us knowing exactly how futile this whole thing was.

I never heard back from him.

You showed him round? I’d have thrown him out, saves time and he’d have probably been glad I did.

They didn't enjoy it at the time maybe but now they are all over 6’ 5” tall!
