Fantastic memory, proves the saying "life is stranger than fiction".My Grandad and Dad ( when he was 10)went on the team bus with Albert once to Blackpool. I seem to remember it was for a training camp for a couple of days ( think 1940’s Dubai) .... there was a mix up with rooms capacity and Albert , my Grandad and my Dad all ended up sleeping in the same double bed
Albert also offered the chance for my Dad to be a ball boy , which he refused as he was ‘ too shy ‘ ( think 1940’s Limahl). I remember listening to that one in disbelief, I’d have given my left conker to be a ball boy !
Understand your dad, my grandmother made some sheaf's of flowers for Senior Atkins, Chairman at Lane, to be presented to Kiev (believe it was). Brought them home for me to deliver thinking I could get my foot in the door at Lane. Same result as your dad, god was she livid don't think I was spoken too for a while.
