Hodgy was always smart enough to jump with one knee raised to deter the forwards from clattering into him. Goalkeepers got no protection from referees at the time.
The building far right with the 'sunrise' cut up is supposed to be The Norfolk Market Hall. Built 1851, on the site of the Tontine Inn, an interesting place of Sheffield history, if you find anything on it read it. The market hall was demolished 1959, sacrilege, and they built Woolworths Haymarket on the site. Artistic licence, it did not have windows on the façade overlooking the Caslefolds wholesale market it was all brickwork. Not a photo, but I do love the paintings that this artist does.
Does anyone know the building to the far right, next to the Norfolk Arms and in front of the Town Hall?
Also the one to the left at the front?

Shame all these gone. They're never going to be replaced by anything as good.
I can only vaguely remember this building but it would have been lost when Commercial Street was made a dual carriageway in the late 60s early 70s The buildings on the other side of the road (Canada House and the ones above it) were saved but a sad loss nonetheless.Cheers mate.
Do you know why was the Electricity Building demolished? Was it for the same reason as the other gems, i.e 'progress'?
