thats a cracker i always wondered how they played cricket there

Here's one for Silent (and I don't know the answer). Where's that photo taken?

The house(s) at the back looks a bit like one on Marlborough Road (thankyou google maps) overlooking the University Sports Ground on Witham Road (upper level). Did we ever use the University playing fields?

Maybe?
My thoughts were out in peak district somewhere. Occasionally in the 60's they broke away from usual routine for FA cup games and went for walks and training in Derbyshire.

John Harris used to take them down Padley George for their walk then to The Maynard for steak and eggs for lunch. Soft drinks or a cup of tea afterwards.

Good point but Mick Hill wearing a 'bib' makes me think they've been playing rather than just walking.

Wonder if Woody and Mick Jones are being congratulated over something. May narrow down the date. Obviously before September 1967. Did they both receive representational honors at the same time? Football League side?

A young Keith Edwards front row on the right and Michael Brown next row up second from the left ,1949 is my guess.

Not seen the below photo before. Will try to identify the players and the year

Back row; Bill Brelsford, Fred Tunstall, Ernest Milton,Bobby Hughes
Second row: George Waller (trainer), Ernest Blackwell, ?, Harold Pantling, ?, Jim McCourt, Percy Oldacre, Albert Sturgess Seth King, George Richardson, Harry Johnson snr (trainer)
Third row: Bill Sampy, David Lowe, Bert Menlove, Jimmy Waugh, Bill Cook, Billy Gillespie, ?, Walter Hoyland, ?, Jim Plant
Front row: Tommy Sampy, ?, David Mercer, Freddie Brown, Tommy Boyle, ?

We signed Bert Menlove in March 1922. 1922-23 was Bill Brelsford's and Albert Surgess' last season for us so the photo would have been taken in 1922

Is the photo taken in front of the old John Street stand, before the Luftwaffe did its demolition job,the players tunnel back right?

Is Walter Hoyland any relation to Tommy/Jamie? If so, that would be some achievement to have 3 generations of the same family playing for the same club.

Walter Hoyland's profile in SUFC's Who's Who doesnt state that he is related to Tommy/Jamie
