Ah, the Atlantean. - my mate worked on Attercliffe Common and occasionally manned a fork left. Whilst shifting a load of timber, he overshot the works entrance and ripped the doors off an Atlantean

I'm not sure the 2 route was ever as precise as that. We had the theory that on every driver's bithday, the supervisor would tell him to take a 2 out.
"It's so your birthday, so go wherever you want".
You could be anywhere in Sheffield, lost in some strange estate and then all would be well as the 2 chugged past the bottom of the road.

I once got the 2 back from town, being a lazy git, and it went all round the houses, stopped forever in Crosspool somewhere (Crimicar Lane just popped into my head) before dropping me 200 yards from our house.

Just remembered I once did a similar thing on a 4 via Dobcroft Road for the same reason and sat on it at Millhouses terminus and got off on Springfield Road when it set off again.

I'm sure it was, just opposite Woolworths if memory serves. There used to be another one near the top of the Moor.

Up until recently there was still a Wimpy in the Frenchgate Centre in Doncaster. Last time I went though it had gone, made me feel quite maudlin an old name disappearing.

We've still got a Wimpy in Horsham! Always reminds me of the birthday parties you would go to when you were a kid.

As for town, I think there were three at one time or another: on the Moor (I remember going before we drew against Newcastle in 1990 for my brother's birthday...good times), Fargate and Haymarket.

I think they still have a presence on the A roads. I stopped at a little chef on the way back from Cornwall last year. It was acceptable. Reasonable full breakfast at a reasonable price.

Went to the Markham Moor one on New Years Eve for tea. I'm not a fan of Eggs & Mushrooms though so for me it would benefit from a "per item" breakfast like Morrisons do because when I ask they won't replace the bits I don't like with anything else.

The Burgers are fine, but the Hunters Chicken is a bit disappointing.

Thank you SEB, I think this was the remains of their final premises on the Wicker, having gone bust in their palatial home just around the corner - they started life at the top of Howard Street.
Relied chiefly on catalogue selling on credit, but got slaughtered when they didn't follow the internet......
