The concrete section, which was part of the Kop, always fascinated me as a kid, late forties. I couldn't understand why it was so different and looked more modern than the rest of the stands.
It's only in the last few years I have learned it is much older than most of the surrounding structures.

I have a lot of other press photos in my collection (and pre-war team photos) wouldn’t mind picking your brains on dating a few others..

Not to my knowledge. In 1974/75 season we wore all blue at Stoke, Liverpool and Arsenal. There are black and white photos for these matches. Not seen any photos of when we played at Boro in Boxing Day 1974Was this shirt ever played in?

Or even worse- stripes!!!Personally I wouldn't see anything wrong with navy (which we've had a couple of times) or even light blue, just as long as it's not the Piggy shade of blue obviously.
Or even worse- stripes!!!

Russell wasnt our player at the time so I think that is Peter Wragg. Is it Derek Hawksworth behind Grainger? Dont know who is between Wragg and HoylandLtoR Mercer-Russell-?-Hoyland , behind Grainger-?-Edward Burgin.
You are right, Peter Wragg, mi old brain confusing two players, similar in stature and playing ability.Russell wasnt our player at the time so I think that is Peter Wragg. Is it Derek Hawksworth behind Grainger? Dont know who is between Wragg and Hoyland
Most of these playing when i first went , when did we get Kevin Lewis ?You are right, Peter Wragg, mi old brain confusing two players, similar in stature and playing ability.
Both, good with the ball at their feet and inventive in thought, with ability to find the back of the net.
Footballers, both, but excessive physicality was not their forte.
I'm going for Alfie Ringstead to the left of Ted Burgin. Burgin wasn't very tall and allowing the photograph perspective, Ringstead was shorter than Burgin I believe.
As for player 3rd from left, in original photo, nearest I've got is player front row far right in this squad photo, who's name I believe is Eric Over.
