Dunno, but the hotel is there.
Oh yeah, so it is. Must be more recent than I'd realised.

The New Era Square development is also there opposite St Mary’s church, so although the photo looks ancient I suspect it’s probably only a year or two old.Oh yeah, so it is. Must be more recent than I'd realised.

Emotive memories of childhood, trips to town with my mother 1940's. Always retuned to Pond St via Change Alley.
I dont remember Change Alley at all, must have been pulled down in mid 1960s?Emotive memories of childhood, trips to town with my mother 1940's. Always retuned to Pond St via Change Alley.
1950's, occasionally calling in Marsden's for a coffee on way home from school with the group of lads and lasses, who all caught the same bus home from Pond St.
Good memories and days of yesteryear.![]()
Yes, not sure exactly when, possibly more 1959/60I dont remember Change Alley at all, must have been pulled down in mid 1960s?
As you say Silent it must have been demolished mid sixties. It was an interesting little street with a bit of a kink in the middle that made you want to go down and see what was round the corner. We used to order coal from down there (Burnett and Hallamshire?) and there was a Thornton’s Chocolate Kabin on the corner with Norfolk Street. The Marsden’s cafe VM190 refers to was on the side of the street being demolished in the photo.(I think)I dont remember Change Alley at all, must have been pulled down in mid 1960s?
John Terry, Gary Davies and a young Michael Douglas.
Two still alive
Des Thompson, Bob Widdowson and Dennis Shiels.
