You’re correct Bert, it was in the middle of the roundabout and the water cascaded over thing in the middle for want of a better description which was illuminated at night.Bert's memory has informed him that there used to be fountain at the end of Shoreham St near the Midland Station .
He recalls one or two Unitedites jumping in it the day we got promoted against Watford in 1971.
Does anyone else remember it or has Bert's memory already knocked off for the day?

only kidding, they have to have a fountain there to let off pressure where the Porter Brook flows into the Sheaf under Platform One, in the event of full spate I heard.

Just noticed the British Rail truck on the roundabout, it looks like a late version of the Scammell Scarab.
There was only 2 Families of Blades on the whole of the Lindsay and I see one of them even now though he has a bar in Spain but comes back for a good few matches. No mate, just off Yew Lane, think it was referred to as New Parson Cross, in some misguided attempt to offer some feeble attempt at social grandeur. Had some mates who lived around the Lindsay Estate area. Blades few and far between in S5 in those days, used to have to hide my scarf in case I met any pigs on my way to the match, making my way to Halifax Rd to get the bus into town (the 52 would take me from Chaucer all the way to the bottom of the Moor) Happy days pal.
John Tudor and his wife flew over from USA to attend Coventry Legends Day last weekend but the event was called off. They were disappointed
I remember my brother in the fountain on that particular day.Bert's memory has informed him that there used to be fountain at the end of Shoreham St near the Midland Station .

Wasn't it the 53 bus. Or have you confused it with the 42?No mate, just off Yew Lane, think it was referred to as New Parson Cross, in some misguided attempt to offer some feeble attempt at social grandeur. Wise,Hague and Aitken's were the Blades on Lindsay, but I've also seen a couple of the Williamson lads at Wembley and the Lane in recent years. There was only 2 Families of Blades on the whole of the Lindsay and I see one of them even now though he has a bar in Spain but comes back for a good few matches.
We moved to the Norfolk Park plenty of Blades on there

I'm off Buchanan, where ,as far as I remember, there was shopkeepers Roger Heath&Ernest Bownes, then Sam Major and me,who were Blades.
You're absolutely correct, I have confused the 2 numbers, but then I do that all the time these days, considering that was over 58 years ago, I 'm surprised I got it as close as I did!Wasn't it the 53 bus. Or have you confused it with the 42?

Bus 42 ran from Lowedges to Foxhill (via Shoreham Street). Number 53 ran from Lowedges to Parson Cross (via QueensRoad).
I think bus 52 did Woodhouse.
That's right, that's where my confusion comes from, I used to live at Toyne St. and catch the 52 to Crookes from the town.It did, from Crookes
I know Brian Wise really well his dad used to organize a games of football in Parson Cross Park sound bloke.Wise,Hague and Aitken's were the Blades on Lindsay, but I've also seen a couple of the Williamson lads at Wembley and the Lane in recent years.
