No doubt we will make the playoffs at all, just winning them is the hard part for us.

We are better against tougher teams though so hopefully that is good for us in playoffs, i am always less confident when we play teams down at bottom.

Just imagine the atmosphere after the Chessy game if we play for another 1-1 draw, concede yet another last minute goal, lose 1-2 and miss out the Play Offs.

I'd have to laugh, as I joined the baying mob on its way round to the Car Park.

Preston will be looking over their shoulders playing Swindon who are in the play-offs, having nothing to lose except affecting who they are down to face at Wembley. MK Dons will be desperate to try and clinch automatic rather than face the lottery of play-offs, Rochdale are at home on a mission impossible which no-one expects them to pull off so are under less pressure. Bristol City are champions and have nothing at stake away v Chesterfield, who will want at least a point to bring their superior goal difference into play. We play an Orient side in a 3 way relegation fight.

Someone is going to choke amongst that lot. I just hope it isn't us. Its almost like the play-offs have kicked off early.

And to think that less than a decade ago, we were in the Premiership. Now we are reduced to worrying about Crewe, Fleetwood, Yeovil, Rochdale and Oldham, etc.

Since we were relegated from the top tier, we have spent virtually 50% of our time in Division 3.

Now I know that there is no divine right to be in a higher league than we are, but for a club with the size, fanbase and to some extent money flowing in (10 million from The Prince, if Jim Phipps is correct), then something has gone badly wrong. Whether it is some terrible decisions regards appointing managers, some terrible decisions regards buying players, or selling players, there is something fundamentally wrong at SUFC.

Look at us, the once mighty and proud Sheffield United, worried about being in a dog fight with Swindon, Milton Keynes and Chesterfield, that really does say it all.

Come on footballing gods, if you are really up there, looking down, the joke's over, it's run its course, we are all sick of it, grant us our wish in this, our hour of need and get us out of this league, I think we will all accept an unconvincing two-legs, followed by a scrappy 1-0 win at Wembley, we don't want to be entertained anymore in the play offs, we just want to be in the Championship.

Dear The Footballing Gods. I for one don’t care any more. After Walsall, Chelsea, Palace, Wigan, Burnley Wolves and Huddersfield, failure to qualify for a Play-Off competition we’re unlikely to win won’t even register on the disappointment scale. In fact, many fans will see avoiding another trip to Wembley as a blessing. So go on, do your worst. See if we care.
Liar and the Footballing Gods aren't fooled either

Sussed nigels gameplan out .make us look ordinary and boring most of season then surprise opposition in playoffs by our stylish play and attacking football. after pretending players are tired and injured and worn out they were really fit after all.( end of worries)

I think the low for me this season is when people compare us to teams like Rochdale and say things like, You can't win them all. Even Rochdale couldn't beat (X)

I know what you're saying because it's embarrassing that we have slumped to the same level as them.

But can we please all get this straight. We are a 3rd division side with 3rd division players just like the other teams in this god forsaken league because that is where we currently deserve to be. We have no divine right to expect to beat everyone regardless of crowd or budget size - that should simply help in the long run. I do get frustrated when we start to sound like our massive porcine neighbours because we're better than that aren't we ?

Brayford, Basham, Freeman, Coutts, Davies (S), etc., all came to us from a higher league, if you are saying that we paid all that money for Brayford, because he is a third division player, then we really are in trouble mate!

That's where he's playing :-( And, in fairness, he's playing like a 3rd division player.

Yes, we have fooled them all so far this season. They won't see it coming.

Accoring to my maths there's only a one-in-nine chance that it will go to the last day. And that's presuming all four teams are equal. MK Dons and Blades will be favourites to win.

So there's only one combination of results that could actually bring about our doom. A Rochdale win combined with a Blades loss.

The other eight combinations, that will see us qualify for the play offs on Saturday, are:

Rochdale win, Blades win
Rochdale win, Blades draw
Rochdale draw, Blades win
Rochdale draw, Blades draw
Rochdale draw, Blades lose
Rochdale lose, Blades win
Rochdale lose, Blades draw
Rochdale lose, Blades lose

Mark Fucking Stein

And David "The Twat" Baddiel on Match of the Day saying that he was pleased that Stein came back from injury and got a goal, how nice. Not an ounce of sympathy towards a team relegated, oh no, just smarmy comments about Stein. The twat.

I was emotional and pissed by the time MoTD came on, so that may have played havoc with my reasoning that day. But I have hated Baddiel ever since. Solely on the basis of that. Am sure there might be more reasons, but I can't be bothered to find out.

I got back from Chelsea, sat down to watch MOTD, and had to leave the room. I didn't want to see that twice. Still never have seen any of the final day action again.

My worst day as a Blade.

I understand what everyone is saying but surely Chesterfield will be panicking a lot more than us. Bristol City on Saturday and then an away fixture and local derby at BDTBL last match of the season. That said it could be all over if MKD get a draw against rochdale. I'd actually much prefer us to get a positive result on Saturday, Rochdale to win, Chesterfield to lose and then Chesterfield have all the stress of the last match of the season before getting beaten by us and losing out on a playoff place to Rochdale :) I'm sure the most likely scenario according to what I've read on here is for us to fook it up though:(

No we don't have the right, however when you have considerably more resources and you buy their best player you kind of expect more!

Agreed. But there's a difference between buying their best player and knowing how to use him / get the best out of him :)

For what it's worth I think we'll get a point at Orient, Chessie will lose to Brizzle, and Rochdale will beat MKD. We'll then beat Chessie and Rochdale will beet the dingles. It's written in the stars that Done will come back from Injury in the play off final to score the winner against Rochdale. I'm off to sleep the Vodka off now.

If we can't get one point from two games then we've got no chance in the playoffs and we'd be better off not bothering.

I too wanted to avoid mk dons in the semi but assuming we have to face them either in the semi or at Wembley, I'm now thinking I'd give us more chance with a home and away leg against them. So I'll be hoping for mk in the semi and then an easier final. Anyone else share the same view ?

I can understand your reasoning regarding Mk, it will still be a difficult task home and away, but over 2 games who knows, I still believe we have evey chance to win the playoffs even though our form suggest ootherwise.
