...in!

My god, your board of directors are clueless. Keep changing manager, so the new one is stuck with players left by the previous manager, that don't suit their style of play.

Until they (and a lot of you fans are patient) and give someone two years to finish the job, you aren't going anywhere. First year to build a team and style, and second to get promotion I'm sure Adkins would have done that next year.

I'm even more sure Clough would have done it this year. Oh, he has. That doesn't help us, but at least we have the play offs.

Well we have a chairman that's blamed nearly a decade of decline on bad luck. We have fucking nowt to come but more years in league 1 or worse.

We only made three permanent signings last year, and half the squad won't get their contracts renewed (we Hope), so your post has no basis in fact.

Jog on Pig.

Clough only did it this year by inhertiting a capable squad from the previous regime, Hasselabaink would have took them up as champions Clough nearly cocked it up

You keep telling yourselves that sweetie. He had half a season to mess it up, and didn't. At least Adkins was an improvement....

Some of you get what you deserve, seriously. Patients/patience, it's all relevant with you lot.

Have you been on the Sherbert already? Clough only just got them promoted after taking charge top of the league, he's fallen out with their best player, Burton will be relegated by start of April next season with him in charge

Exactly. Adkins was stuck with players he didn't want.

Stuck with a squad that finished 5th, reached league cup semi final, but lacked a 20 goal a season striker. Adkins was given that striker and took us to our worse league finish since 1983, whilst wastinh big money on the likes of Sammon, Woolford, Edgar and Hammond.

Yeah, lets give him another years budget!!

O'Driscoll no thank you. Walsall sent the clown packing.

Stuck with players left by a previous manager? We have about 10 players left under contract. This is the best opportunity we've had for years to start from scratch a put together a decent side. There has been very little shown by Adkins in the last 12 months to suggest that he was the man to be trusted to do it.

Can't argue with that, pretty much said the same all along (let him build his own team). Waiting for the new guy to say "gonna wait till pre season to make my own mind up about the players".

Seems like the board are happy to keep rolling the dice with manager until they land a six.

I think that's about the size of it.

Completely agree

Let's see where Burton are by Christmas. Rock bottom of the Championship, I'd bet. But he won't have Hasselbaink to help him out.

The pig actually makes a good point but on this occasion this is the right call for me. This has been the 2nd worse season in 127 years. You can't preside over failure of that magnitude and expect, not only to keep your job, but also take responsibility for hard earned, scarce resources. Had Adkins' acquisitions shown promise then perhaps, but he has recruited terribly and left us with as poor a squad as I can remember. Nice fella, tried his best, but ultimately, failed badly here.

He didn't for 6 months this season either. One things for sure, they'll be above you at Christmas, and with the new TV deal, their turnover will be about the same.

Too easy with some of you lot (some of whom seemingly can't read), but at least we agree on one thing, your board are truly useless.

Anyway, onto the next disaster, who won't be given any time or patience to prove himself as you want overnight success. That overnight success is turning into thousands of nights, and will continue to do so if you keep piling the pressure on managers that are more than capable.

Unless they go for the obvious route to success to anyone with a decent budget in this league, and get Grayson in. Do you think they will?

Or they could go for the bizarre majority choice of this forum, Wilder, who has done nothing at this level, albeit has been successful in the conference and League 2 with a healthy budget (before this season). Not league one though, is it?

'Overnight success' eh? The last Cup we won was in 1925, yet still 20k turn up every week - so impatient. We are a big club compared to Burton. If we lose, it hurts. If Burton lose (and you'd better get used to it next season), you can always go for a wander round that sad little market town of yours and forget all about it. I used to work in Burton. What a toilet.

I agree, horrible place. Almost as bad as Sheffield.

Another who can't read btw.

Another game in the season and Clough would have ballsed it up big style and Walsall would've grabbed 2nd place. Spectacular fall away from where they were when he took over.

As for sacking Adkins, the more I listen to that interview on Sunday, the more I think he self-destructed on purpose. I think he wanted out and did an interview that would make it untenable for him to stay. I was one for giving him another season, but it seems to me that he didn't for whatever reason.

And I agree, the board is dogshit!

So, will they waste the finances of a 3 year contract on someone else? Or be honest enough to say its a 12 month contract and promotion is the aim, or you're out. But you get the equivalent of an extra 2 years in bonus payments if promotion is achieved? It would be cheaper in the long run.

The point is that you all expect signings from higher leagues. I've never rated the likes of Sammon, but I can imagine the fury on here, if you signed a load of league 1 or 2 players, that would potentially be better. They'd be getting grief before they kicked a ball. Same as Westlake, Brandy etc, who were all more than good enough for this level, but were written off because they weren't managed well.

How about you back whoever comes in - manager and players, and if it doesn't go right you stay with them and do your bit. As soon as you're behind the team at Brammall Lane it's intimidating for visiting teams, but when you're not, it's not just quiet, but toxic. Hardly a recipe for success, is it?

Support isn't just about numbers. Its about getting behind the team in voice and positivity. 5,000 supportive fans is better than 20,000 negative ones as keeps being proven season after season.

Forget your past, its long gone. Your present will be your future if you don't stop being so negative about everything to do with the club.

Joint 4th worst season actually :-)

1. 1st D4 (69th) 81-2
2. 21st D3 (65th) 80-81
3. 12th D3 79-80 (56th) 79-80
4. 11th D3 (55th) 82-3 and 15-16
