Joint 4th worst season actually :)

1. 1st D4 (69th) 81-2
2. 21st D3 (65th) 80-81
3. 12th D3 79-80 (56th) 79-80
4. 11th D3 (55th) 82-3 and 15-16
but 1st in Division 4 was the best we could do from our starting position and I really really enjoyed that season so for me it doesn't count.

Lies, damn lies, and statistics and all that ;)

So, will they waste the finances of a 3 year contract on someone else? Or be honest enough to say its a 12 month contract and promotion is the aim, or you're out. But you get the equivalent of an extra 2 years in bonus payments if promotion is achieved? It would be cheaper in the long run.

The point is that you all expect signings from higher leagues. I've never rated the likes of Sammon, but I can imagine the fury on here, if you signed a load of league 1 or 2 players, that would potentially be better. They'd be getting grief before they kicked a ball. Same as Westlake, Brandy etc, who were all more than good enough for this level, but were written off because they weren't managed well.

How about you back whoever comes in - manager and players, and if it doesn't go right you stay with them and do your bit. As soon as you're behind the team at Brammall Lane it's intimidating for visiting teams, but when you're not, it's not just quiet, but toxic. Hardly a recipe for success, is it?

Support isn't just about numbers. Its about getting behind the team in voice and positivity. 5,000 supportive fans is better than 20,000 negative ones as keeps being proven season after season.

Forget your past, its long gone. Your present will be your future if you don't stop being so negative about everything to do with the club.

We don't do planning for the future. We keep longing for the past with regards to players and managers.

First of all, I can read and it's Bramall. I realise you follow Walsall and if you live there, commiserations.

I cannot imagine how desperate your life must be, if the best thing you can find to do on a day like today is come on another club's message board to share your thoughts with us. I seriously can't think of anything I would less like to do than spend time with fans of other clubs. It wouldn't be my idea of a social life, but each to his own.

I may have said this before, when you were giving it large a while back, but we're going through the worst time in our history and we're still in the same league as Walsall, going through a really glorious period. Will you be quite so quick to pontificate if the play off bid fails, or after relegation from the Championship in twelve months time if you go up and don't stay up? I think you had a couple of season there one time a few years ago.

Another game in the season and Clough would have ballsed it up big style and Walsall would've grabbed 2nd place. Spectacular fall away from where they were when he took over.

This is a myth that needs settling, as is the myth that under JFH Burton were smashing goals in left right and centre.

Clough took over on the 7th December 2015, when Burton were top of the table, 2pts above 2nd and third place. At that point they'd scored 24 goals, 1.2 goals per game. They finished in 2nd, 1pt above 3rd, with 57 goals scored. Their goals to game ratio actually slightly increased under Clough to 1.26 goals per game

Knock Sammon off that list.

Adkins was gifted him by his predecessor, and I think Edgar and Sharp did ok.

Opinions vary on Edgar, especially mine, and I can't believe there wasn't time to stop the Sammon deal as it wasn't a 1st July loan. It was some weeks into Adkins being here

Keep biting.

So, Chris Wilder. Non league/League 2 expert. Will he do what everyone hasn't been given the chance to do? Complete the job. Or will he be written off when you're not 20 points clear at Christmas?

He didn't for 6 months this season either. One things for sure, they'll be above you at Christmas, and with the new TV deal, their turnover will be about the same.

Too easy with some of you lot (some of whom seemingly can't read), but at least we agree on one thing, your board are truly useless.

Anyway, onto the next disaster, who won't be given any time or patience to prove himself as you want overnight success. That overnight success is turning into thousands of nights, and will continue to do so if you keep piling the pressure on managers that are more than capable.

Unless they go for the obvious route to success to anyone with a decent budget in this league, and get Grayson in. Do you think they will?

Or they could go for the bizarre majority choice of this forum, Wilder, who has done nothing at this level, albeit has been successful in the conference and League 2 with a healthy budget (before this season). Not league one though, is it?
umm northampton have been in administration mate

Jeez, clueless doesn't even begin to describe it...

Can't Foxy impose some sort of minimum footballing IQ standard for visiting trollers?
