Nosworthy

A rumour I heard last night was that the premiership club we are talking to is Suderland and the player is Nosworthy. Who can tell?

I have heard his name mentioned a few times and would prefer him to Leon Barnett. Nosworthy is a much better player.

Saw something in this yesterday but cant see it happening now. He partnered Kilgallon in defence against Everton last night so I doubt he's on the market. I know they have Turner suspended and what not but even so, if he's getting a game they must be short on depth at present.

Decent player but I dont think the timing is right for sunderland.

I can't remember the exact source, but, i'm sure i saw the other day that we were front runners to sign Nosworthy on loan from Sunderland. I think it was the Daily Star, so, it must be true!!!
Anybody else read this??
Be a great signing IMO. I'd be very surprised if it happened with how much the deal would involve.

Really? I always thought he was abit of a clumsy defender abit like Claude Davis.

Transfer clockwatch on Skysports says hes coming to us rather than pompey!

Good player. Big strong defender that can play right across the back four. Just what we need really but ON LOAN YET AGAIN! Why didnt we try to sign him as part of the Kilgallon deal?!

LOAN?

Not seen any mention of a loan move. I will stand corrected if it is, but as yet theres been no mention that ive seen!

Didn't Steve Bruce state he was happy for him to go out on loan? Agreed though, there is no mention of whether or not this deal is perm or loan...........knowing United though, it'l be loan

The exact words of Sky Sports;

"Nosworthy is expected to leave the Stadium of Light before the 5pm deadline, with manager Steve Bruce happy to let the 29-year-old head out on loan."

That would suggest to me that it will be a loan deal.

Yeah since posting that page has become live. So i take your point. Looks like being a Loan

sky sports news reported has just said he is likely to join Pompy now!!

Website still states that it will be us, even on the pompey page so think they just done know. :D

As is usual with on transfer day he is apparently at the Lane as we speak and has been for the past hour.

Edit just had a text, deal done.

[Confirmed] Nosworthy seals blades swich

Nyron Nosworthy has completed his move to Sheffield United on loan from Sunderland.

Skysports.com understands that Portsmouth failed to agree a financial package with the former Gillingham defender, so he opted for Bramall Lane instead.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is a fan of Nosworthy but, with the recent signing of Matt Kilgallon from the Blades and the imminent arrival of Alan Hutton, he agreed to a loan for the 29-year-old stopper.

Nosworthy attracted interest from a number of clubs and Pompey were favourites, but they could not agree terms.

Now Sheffield United have finalised a deal for Nosworthy, who will spend the rest of the season with the Championship club.

Very good news. Extremely useful player at this level and has pace to slot in to the Killa role.

Good signing and a bit of a character. Got some pace as well.

Boo potential 4/10.

He probably also wins the Bert Menlove Memorial Trophy for daftest name for a United player.

Hi guys! A die hard Sunderland Supporter here. I have watched Noz play for a number of seasons now.

Position

He is used to play right back but was turned into a centre half by Roy Keane in our promotion season. It was a masterstroke at the time because he was struggling to find his feet at sunderland. He played fantastically well in that season and we even made a chant for him.

Character + Playing ability

Very good professional and loved by all at the club. He is very strong and quick. However, he is prone to a daft moment like doing a few tricks when he should get rid. For the reason I mentioned, I dont believe him to be premiership quality but I think he will be one of the best defenders in the championship.
