Was also talking to a Preston fan who thought Matt Hill was “a solid defender”, my only memory of him is him scoring the winner at Brentford away once, did that actually happen?!

My god Luke Thomas, made Max Lowe look like chopper Harris. The only pro I have ever seen play football like Laura Ingles from Little House on the Prairie.

Ten bob boots. He was entertaining if you like watching footballers kick a ball and you've absolutely no idea where it will go.

Yes, he had a long career, but for us he was rubbish in a team that didn't exactly cover itself in glory.

Work colleague of mine is a Sunderland fan, and I remember him saying (when Nosworthy was on his way to us, on loan), "you will love him, he'll become a fan favourite, gives his all", or something along those lines.

I can only assume that he somehow fitted in to the Sunderland style of play, at the time?

Fair points which are acknowledged. Your defence of him is admirable, it's a pity his defending at Sheffield United wasn't as good as yours however.

I'm not defending him, I just hate the vitriol that some players get.
The language used by some is what riles me to reply. You were quite mild so apologies for biting.
NN was a car crash for us in a poor side, but anybody who plays so many games in the 2nd tier is a good professional.
All of us who played amateur football will have played with and against some unbelievable footballers who never played above NCE etc.
That's how good these lads are despite 30 shit games for us.
