Norwood

Norwood's contribution tonight consisted of lazy misplaced passes and lazy (leaning back as always) shots miles off target apart from one which would probably have hit post but goalie saved it.
Berge was even worse - literally not involved at all in first half.
But both stay on.
Berge did wake up s little in second half.

Funny how people see games so differently.

I thought Norwood was one of our better players. At least he ALWAYS shows for the ball and wants to make things happen, even if sometimes it doesn’t come off.

The same can’t be said about Berge tonight but to be fair to the lad, he looked dead on his feet second half. Should've been hooked instead of Doyle.

I am not the one using swear words and insults. Think it is you that needs to grow up. Either you are right or I am right and we will know after 46 games or so and an analysis of the season.
We know now

You know nothing about football as your comments are totally ridiculous

well done a post without swear words and insults. These forums are people placing their opinions. I have been following the blades for 50+ years. I accept that it is rarely one player to blame. When a player is pivotal to how a team plays then perhaps sometimes unfairly they are crtiticised. Just very disappointed about tonight's result and concerned that the rot has set in. I hope that I am wrong.

Norwood usually divides opinion.
Berge was terrible , I don't buy the tired excuse - he looked disinterested , coasting , not getting involved

From the two midfielders left on the pitch, some people are actually singling out Norwood for criticism. Utterly baffling.
This is a thread on Norwood is maybe the reason why? Berge can be discussed on another thread, probably the Berge one, he needs some rest and some of the other squad players need to step up for him because he’s dead on his feet.

Norwood has been very good this season but that was one of his worst performances this season for us yet he was still one of our better performers. There doesn’t allows have to be one side of a fence then everyone has to stick to it. This isn’t singled at you alcoblade by the way.

Norwood benefitted from packing international football in and it’s benefitted us aswell, Berge with how he plays, driving forward at times and creating spaces other people can’t from his drives will cause his performances to drop off somewhat, it’s down to Hecky to sort it out otherwise we’ll get yet more injuries.

Berge has been great for us this season. He wasn’t tonight.

Norwood spent the entire second half as practically the only midfielder on the pitch.

I find it impossible to appraise Norwood’s performance without at least including the bloke who was his midfield partner.

Norwood touched the ball twice as many times as Berge (factually), who was a passenger for most of the game.

Well at least we have found someone worse at taking corners than Norwood now! Step forward Reda and try and beat the first man next time!!

He’s been ever present this season and also played 2 x 90 minutes for Norway in the last international break (I think).

He needs a rest IMO. His last two performances have shown that.

Don't disagree with that but Khadra and McAtee aside on the bench we seem to be running on empty at the moment. The whole bench needs to step up.

Pathetic. Keep bringing McAtee on with minutes to spare. Take Doyle off and keep Norwood on. We will fall away and if lucky scrape into the play offs with the inevitable fuck up
Swear words hey

Kettle etc etc

My issue with Norwood is teams know how to play him, Dont press too much and he will ping a hollywood ball 50 yards to a wing and then they press and win the 2nd ball, Pressure him and he can misplace simple passes. No doubts he has been a good player for us but is 1 I would look at replacing in January if the budget allows, if not certainly next summer.

Opposition teams know if he's passing forwards its to the opposite wing to where he is. For all his quality he should be unlocking defences with through balls which N'Diaye and Brewster would thrive on

And he was heavily criticized for his performances for Norway, so his confidence must have taken a knock as well. Lots of games coming up before the World Cup and I think he's one that might benefit from a bit of squad rotation. I don't buy that he's coasting or disinterested, he's acted very professionally despite the rumour mill surrounding him during the transfer window.

For me Ollie is good when he has plenty of options around him in terms of Blades players making runs and dragging defenders out of position. My only criticism of him is the inability to attack a space in front of him. Many times there is space in front of him but he doesn’t attack it. Maybe he’s been told not to get too far forward and leaving big gaps behind him.

Amazing how many crap players we have, who have had their time and need to move on.

Or

Amazing how many crap fans we have, who have had their time and need to move on

Getting really fucked off with the bloke sat next to me he was moaning from 1st minute to last. "Any manager would do a better job than this..." "Hecky fucking out of his depth"

In the old days, when we stood, you could just slip behind him and piss down his back.

The club could get another season out of Norwood. He just needs a couple of hard working, talented youngsters each side of him to do the donkey work.*
Norwood could then get back to his Hollywood best.
That would be ok in the championship, but not sure about the PL if we do get promotion?

*Doyle and McAtee come to mind.
