Norwood

No player is as effective when pressed, Norwood covers a lot of more ground (even if its not too quickly) than fans give him credit for and is good in the tackle. Since we bought him nobody has come close to replacing him .I can't understand why fans give him so much stick fantastic servent to the club.

Equally, he inexplicably shot from the kick off
He explained in his post match interview, that analysts had said their keeper was often well off his line at kick off, so he gave it a go.

He also explained the same analysis showed their wall all normally jumped, so Sander was going to drill it under. They noticed the guy laid down so Norwood did what he did.

Both excellent decisions from a level headed, intelligent, skillful professional.

When we dominate, there's no one else I'd rather have in the team. When we are under the cosh or up against a strong and athletic midfield, he's probably not the best option. Horses for courses.
Great game yesterday.

Watching Leeds vs Chelsea at the moment. It's played at a crazy pace. If this turns into a promotion season we still have to consider if Norwood's qualities, good and bad, are something that will be suited to PL.

I heard the interview, but it didn't convince me it was the right decision.

Firstly, the keeper wasn't far off his line, and would've made a fairly routine save, maybe he often strays far from the line; yesterday he did not.

Secondly, if you're going to try something that ambitious, you at least need to get it on target.

I love Norwood, and I agree with your assessment that he's a skilful, intelligent player. However, I thought the attempt was a very cheap way of giving up possession.

Possibly the worst post ever on this forum ,why would you post this ?
Worst post ever ?
I think you're exaggerating there , Sitters !
Are you enjoying your new role as self-appointed monitor of other people's posts ?

Norwood has suddenly started to hit decent freekicks + corners , which have lead directly to goals.
If he has these capabilities , it is very frustrating that he's wasted so many in recent seasons.
I genuinely hope he keeps to his new standard now.

I liked it. It captured a bit of the swagger that comes from some success and can roll on to more.
Giving up possession in that situation seemed a fine price to pay for me personally.

I'm sure he was as frustrated.
Thankfully he's stuck at it and Hecky has stood by him. And the people who wanted to dump him have scuttled away.

Maybe having better and bigger players like Anel helps the corners?

I also liked when asked about Ndiayes goal he said at that point they basically stood back and watched him do his thing. Hecky seemed to give high praise too. They all must be feeling quite confident at the moment

100% of our kick offs end up with an opposition throw in with in 10 seconds.

They won't reach Anel if they go back to hitting the first defender or floating in long like a tired balloon.
He seems to have found his range for a driven corner with some bend to it which arrives with pace and reaches headable height at some point within the imaginery lines which run perpendicular to the 2 goalposts.
I watched Alan Woodward do this to good effect in the 60s & 70s.
He could also hit a decent shot.
Maybe TC has given Ollie some tips ?

Bizarre quirk with most teams. I don't understand it in today's possession orientated game, but their must be logic to hoofing it to corners at kick off.

It's weird how much he is undervalued by some of our fans. Most of the time he's been at the club he's been one of our best players.

That promotion season he transformed us - before that we were struggling with Lee Evans & Ryan Leonard. In the first season in the PL he was very very good and drew lots of praise from pundits who'd not seen much of him before.

Yes he had a poor second season as did the whole team, and he started last season slowly too, as did the rest of the team. But since Heckingbottom took charge he improved greatly and was a crucial part of our improvement in the second half of last season.

He's probably the best player in his position in the league, and the stats are proving that. He'd start for practically every team in this division. And without him we'd be struggling badly as we have no one at the club that can do what he does, as consistently as he does.

Yes, he's prone to a mistake. And that's a reason why he's not played the majority of his career in the Premier League, but what he gives us more than makes up for the odd mistake. Some fans really won't appreciate how good and how important he's been for us until he's gone.
