But he passes accurately over distance to our players, and sometimes points to give information to teammates (in the manner demanded by contemporary coaching for at least a decade).

Sometimes, he even points when he’s made an error, to help the team recover from the error, so that we’re not punished for it, ffs.

This means that he is a shit player who shoulDnT bE anywhEre near ouR teaM tHe cuNt. 🤷‍♂️

When Norwood doesn't play, we look tragically worse (Millwall at home a particularly good case in point) because no other CM at the club has any desire to show for or can move the ball forward like ON does.

Berge is a poor midfielder, Hourihane not much better and we've run a failed experiment with Osborn playing central - none of them are worthy of being a replacement or foil for Ollie.

If we are to see the best of ON again we are crying out for athletic, box-to-box midfield general alongside him who isn't scared of wanting the ball. Maybe it's Coulibaly long term, but if we can get Fleck fit & healthy again I think them two behind Ndiaye would be the best we can hope for short term.

Agree 100% not the answer for the future but we look worse when he doesn't play. The issue as some have mentioned isn't Norwood but who plays alongside Norwood. Berge and Hourihane aren't the answer

He's only 30. It's not an age thing.
He's never been a box to box midfielder, in his entire career. We need an upgrade and his legs have gone but he's blamed by some for a multitude of sins he's not responsible for. I know it's not much but he's our best midfielder at the moment. We'd be fucked without him.

One good game for Norwood and we are back to Norwood been the greatest ever midfielder in the world ever

Next week he’ll shirk every tackle and get run over by the opposition midfield

He’s a good player and a top passer of a footballer , but yesterday shouldn’t gloss over him been average at best this season

He isn’t as good as Berge and Fleck is a much better tackler , I’d go with Berge/Fleck when fully fit IMO

Norwood is a problem. You shouldn't have to bring in players to compensate for his total lack of mobility in the middle of the park. You can argue he's not the biggest problem, but were such a light touch with him in there. An open door waiting to be ran through.
A few passes sprayed out to the wings isn't going to change that.

Apparently we need a completely new squad so that Sander Berge's talent can flourish, so I'm happy to forgive Norwood needing one athletic midfielder.

That doesn’t surprise me, he was like Ollie Norwood on speed last night.

I want to find out what Billy was bollocking him for on that free kick as well.

This tough tackling Norwood is one I like to see. I'd like to think Macca has given him some advice as it seems Norwood has really upped his game and is getting stuck in more.

Watch him for the second goal. Running behind MGW pointing out the exact pass that he ended up giving to Sharp. Pissed myself at the time as to the number of people this would've heartily pissed off.
"Look at him pointing, can you see him pointing . . . all he ever does Ethel"

Surely the lesson of the last couple of seasons is that even very good players can look terrible when they're in a bad situation. But given a little bit of support and encouragement and put in a team that's winning, they can get back to something like their best. Form is temporary...

Interested to know what his relationship with Wilder was like based on his performance last night with the energy he showed and how effective he was compared to some of the more lacklustre efforts earlier in the season.

He's been dragging himself out of the rut he got himself in last season and is far more like his old self but I'm curious to see what had really inspired that recent change. McCall's influence, our upturn in form, facing Wilder for the first time or a combination of them all. Those tackle stats aren't something we'd typically associate him with.

Was Brian Howard in Norwoods body

I've been critical, but he's really stepped up his game out of possession. Last night is the kind of performance I want from him. Mobile, combative.
We know about his abilities on the ball with time & space afforded to him, it's the rest of his game where he's needed to show improvement and he is doing.

Billy spent a good while explaining a cunning plan. I was trying to work out what it could be. From the way Norwood took the free kick, I think he was having the same problem🤣

I'd argue it's Macca's influence. I think he is helping Norwood on things had not really been part of his game before.

Same here. Thought he was totally done. That said, we really do need a signing in that area in the summer to start contingency planning.

I think it was to hit the ball at the edge of the wall where Billy went and stood. He then moved away and the defender came across and covered the space so maybe it wasn’t on. Billy didn’t hold back though 😂

Saw that on the highlights from behind the goal. Pointing is probably overrated, but it seems especially futile when the target of the pointing is running away at speed facing in the opposite direction 🙂

Having said that, MCW laid the ball off perfectly and we'll never know whether his attention was drawn to Billy by Billy screaming and shouting for the ball, or Ollie gesticulating as he exited the centre circle 🙂

Norwood’s legs have gone. His set piece delivery, beating the first man or not, is poor. He has no power in his shot and when he gives the ball away he can’t get back to atone for the error.

and spare me the more passes crap. It’s Leon Brittonesque knocking it around near the back four. He’s sitting far too deep most of the time.

I hope I’m wrong but my personal view is he’s done.

Oh, and Ollie McBurnie hasn’t scored a goal in 9 months and his goals per game ratio is one in 9. That’s a failure in my book.
Norwood got us the first goal by nicking ball off Howson.

It doesn't seem to get that much of a headline, but it was his quick thinking to release Hourihane for the first goal.

It's good to see Norwood hasn't lost it and it seems he is getting stuck in to the challenges more hence the stats.
