No Excuses Not to GO to Wembley

I got called out for not staying to clap the players that day!

As soon as I saw the trajectory of Simmo's penalty we were on our way. 2.5 hours in blistering heat and memories of the huge queues at Wembley station after Burnley were enough for that decision.
The players should have come down to Wembley station to clap us after their 'performance' that day

Friday 16th May, 1pm
General Sale to supporters with an accredited Sheffield United previous purchase history and a minimum of 200 loyalty points.

I didn't say I guaranteed they would sell, I asked how the ticket office could realistically, and within the constraints placed on them, allow a fairer, "easier" option.
When you said two days, I thought you meant the two days before Friday.
I gave you an additional option.
The likelihood that loads of casual fans have an immediate knowledge of their loyalty points or even their login or customer number (if that's still a thing) is pretty slim.

I'd argue a casual fan probably knows their customer number more than a STH that just clicks "Renew" once a year.

Can't see how a third of season ticket holders and members would equate to 35,000.
I'd change the later general sale to allow season ticket holders to buy an additional ticket.
Some folk are too hung up on a loyalty points scheme that a lot of fans don't engage with. Unnecessary hurdle when there's this many expensive tickets to be sold.
But as said, you might be right and the tickets will sell.
Every club that gets to Wembley suddenly go from being a 10,000 or 20,000 supported club into a club capable of shifting 40,000+ tickets.

No one on Earth is going to tell me that this is done by restricting the never turning up fans to one ticket per person, if they did they wouldn't sell them, just like we won't because of this stupid rule.

The least committed fan should be allowed a day out if they want one just like every other club allows them too, and they should be allowed to buy more than one of the tickets that will be left over, after all our most loyal and committed fans have already bought theirs at this stage.

These people are the least committed fans and they need very little to put them off, so every effort should be made for them all to go and perhaps become more committed fans in the future

Some casual fans probably do but given the issues of cost and apathy doubt it'll be enough to sell 35,000 tickets.
I'm dragging myself down after pledging not to do playoffs again but as indicated by plenty of posts on here and from personal knowledge re friends and family, including season ticket holders, there are quite a few who aren't.

After at least 60 years of following United home and away, I’m not going to bend the knee and apologise to any twat who thinks my knees and hips are no excuse for not being there this time. To paraphrase the thoughts of my friend shorehamview , said twat can take a running fuck at a rolling doughnut.
GBS = Gonna Bury Sunderland. The stars are finally aligned George.

This is likely based on:
a) Two days after they go on sale, they are on general sale
b) There are over 100,000 accounts with the requirements to buy a ticket at that stage

Southampton managed to sell out last season and they restricted tickets to one per supporter number and they needed to have attended a match since the 2021/22 season.

So our restrictions are no different to what they did a year ago, if anything it’s easier with United!

I'd argue that the excessive cost of buying tickets for Wembley, plus travel, plus food/drink, plus any additional costs that might be required, is a big enough obstacle nowadays that even some of the staunchest fans could argue to themselves that going is not worthwhile, never mind anyone who has gone so infrequently that they are ineligible for general sale.

100% true, we’ll shift 25/28K when it could have been a sell out, but what can you do 😔😔

There's no denying that season ticket holders and regular attendees at Bramall Lane should have priority, but the ticketing system makes it difficult/impossible for anyone else to get involved.

I watch every minute of every game, I'm on here and twitter every day talking about sufc, I'm in a whatsapp group with friends and family that is all about sufc, my kids have all the kits. There's no denying I'm a committed Blade, but my problem is I live 200 miles from Bramall Lane!

My two boys (and confusingly also my wife) are desperate to go to Wembley as it'll be a brilliant day out and a great experience for two little boys who have only ever seen 3000 fans at AFC Totton!

But unfortunately the points and ticketing system are potentially preventing any of this. I emailed the ticket office this morning but I'm not holding my breath!

Much nearer London and a club without our history of playoff misery.

The point made by JJ is that no other club does it like we do, which isn’t true, Southampton sold their tickets in a very similar, nearly identical way to us.

I'd argue that in a city of over 600,000 people and a region of close to 2,000,000 in the S postcode that there are enough daytrippers with sufficient funds to go to the game if they could buy a ticket for their family and Uncle Tom Cobley an all.

To say, as some of our fans do that they don't want these part time bastards involved is about as short sighted and stupid as it gets

Outrageous, totally outrageous, I’m totally outraged…
Well obviously our fans are just a bunch of wankers then

A club that has probably got almost a third as big again support than Southampton throughout their entire history on average has obviously got fans who are bigger wankers, that can be the only excuse left remaining

The cost
Going in as favourites, played so we’ll in the semis, and how many chances will we ever get to go into a final as favourites to see us win 100 years after our last.

The potential outweighs the negatives of losing… can you image the extacy of being there and finally watching us win a champ flay off final!

It’s happening
Just the cost, time and considerable effort!

But... You're right... We might actually win one!

As a southerner that has had to listen on internet radio or watch on ceefax/TV for a lot of my life... The victories are just as sweet, I promise you.

Or as a result of the club not being shit for a short period of time rather than anything you suggest

We were s hit afterwards and those fans are still there 😉 It is possible that Sheffield United have hit upon a revolutionary new idea that the rest of the corporate world rejects but I somehow doubt it.

Excuse for what? The tickets aren’t even on sale yet.

Do you need me to lend you some of my loyalty points so you’re eligible to go to Wembley…?
Follow the conversation before adding to it
And I've got plenty of loyalty points thanks, and also got six friends and family linked to my account.

I'm just one of those unusual people that thinks about others
