No Excuses Not to GO to Wembley

I'm not going. I could but I'm not and if that makes me any less of a Blade then so be it.

I said after Burnley in 09, after going to all the previous ones, that the only time I would ever set foot in Wembley again would be for an FA or League cup final. Against my better judgement I relented and went to the Huddersfield game. It won't be happening again.

It's also starting to wind me up with all this "bigger blade" bollocks that's started appearing on here and social media.

If some fucker knows where that surgeon who did Steven Austin is ? to do my left hip and knees and I'll be there !!
Because NHS won't as I'm 5 kgs overweight

People should do whatever the fuck they want. It's football, not real life

Not so. You should do whatever that other bloke says you should do.

Also, you should do it in exactly the same way as they are doing it.

Especially if your circumstances are different to theirs ("how dare you", etc).

Yeah I’ll harvest my magic money tree for a ticket.

To those who can go, great and have a fantastic day.

But I’m sick and tired of this “no excuses” shit.

My excuse is a mortgage with one wage coming in since Ms Crab rather inconveniently died on me. Frankly I’m fucking sick of being made to feel a lesser blade for that
You’re right it’s not a cheap day, we’re just pricing it up now. £80 ticket / £50-75 travel. It’s £150 for one person before you’ve had a drink!

I’ll be there, but for families etc I can understand them struggling to afford it.

I’ll never understand fans avoiding it due to previous results though, just get over it and take the day for what it is.

Well there is one, the fact you need an accredited purchase history with SUFC and 200 points. We (season tickets and thousands of points) were planning on going with some mates from London (who have been to blades games in sheff before but don't have a registered history) and their kids. My brother who lives in Watford was going to bring his 6 year old daughter for first time but she's won't be allowed in now.

So daft because there will be loads of extended friends and family who for whatever reason don't have a registered account and points.

I remember for the Hull semi I bought tickets for three people who had no account including a Belgian bloke. All three became big blades fans.
Same situation - I have my brother & his wife & kids who are all Blades from afar living in Somerset - who’d love to go - but with no sales history - no chance. I don’t have an answer & I don’t know how other clubs do it ….but u can’t help feeling we are making life really difficult for our ‘casual’ fanbase. I get why season ticket holders & members are important… but I bet that if we had more flexibility we’d easily shift 35000 tickets.

Anyone know what other clubs do to get around this? I really hope that our new owners look at this for next season. Why not invite members or season ticket holders to be able to register ‘associated members’ at the start of each season - so they could potentially become eligible for tickets but effectively making the season existing season ticket Holder responsible? I don’t know - just trying to think of a way to improve the way we sell tickets in the future.

Going in as favourites, played so we’ll in the semis, and how many chances will we ever get to go into a final as favourites to see us win 100 years after our last.

The potential outweighs the negatives of losing… can you image the extacy of being there and finally watching us win a champ flay off final!

It’s happening
I'm all in ⚔️❤️

Would be interesting to know how many people we have already registered with min. 200 points. If its, let's say, 50,000 and there is only a limited window of just over a week to sell them in, then maybe those should take priority on Aunty Flo?

You are right…. I guess this will be a test of our current policy / strategy for selling tickets. If we struggle to sell more than 28000 say ….it really will need a rethink going forward.

Also, looking forward to the influx of new forum members, all Bleds with improbable backstories who post just once asking for a ticket...

Aye - there will be a lot struggling to find the money, simply can’t find the money or can’t justify the spend. That’s fair enough.

Likewise there will be people with prior commitments etc who can’t make it work. Some won’t be physically capable of the trip either.

But I can’t get my head round not going and supporting your team based on past results (last play off final was 13 years ago). Is it really that transactional for some people? For a club our size if you can’t dream a bit at moments like this what’s the point?

The only way those extra 12000 fans that don't go to our normal games every week are going to Wembley is if someone purchases their ticket for them, purchases the bus, train ticket for them, or physically puts them in the car

If they have to do it themselves and can only get one ticket due to having hardly any ticket buying history and not understanding how the buying system works, they won't go

I’m still seeing a shrink after the Huddersfield final.

It was a right laugh that game. The Poodles giving us a 3 penalty head start and we still feck it up.

The real highlight of the day was the train ride home. Being a Brighouse based Blade the Grand Central train home was full of Poodles celebrating - as well they should.

I vowed never again.

I’ll see you there.

There was a glimmer of thought about going but looking at ticket prices and costing £600+ at least for 4 inc travel etc along with a holiday couple of weeks afterwards already booked money will be tight and if we go prob lose so stay at home quids in and we will win cos we havent gone. There said it here.

Yeah the costs soon mount up! But for those who can fund it, fantastic, have a great day out and hopefully a positive result

I thought about taking the kids and wife. For about 8 seconds. Going on the train so it'd be £650 before food, drink, programme's etc

Although, I will moan and still go (wouldn't be right not too) How are the ticket prices justified, although the same as last season. The concessions should have a "£20's plenty" policy and the Under 21's "£30 plenty" and the rest top end at £40 with a week and a half to go and not being able to decide on the kick off time, it is pretty poor to be honest! 2 adults and 2 kids as an "average family" could cost you anywhere from between £201.00 -£315.00 just for the tickets. With many trains from Donny to London already sold out roughly guessing a return time in relation to a 17:30 kick offs means you will probably needing a train at 20:30 most of the return journeys back to Donny are sold out, there are 1st class options which are priced at nearly £800.00 (yes that is right) return (standard down) - If it's just me that decides to go its around £100.00 on the train plus ticket.

Sorry folks, but I said never again after 2009, and seen as though I can barely drag my substantial arse all of 5 miles to the Lane these days, I can confirm that another expensive and potentially hearbreaking excursion to the most soul less corner of North London will provide me with an ample excuse not to go.

Whilst this Firestick and IPTV combination has saved me a ton of money and made watching football infinitely more convenient, it's pretty much had the same effect as X-Hamster has on my sex life. Why bother, when you really don't have to?

However I really do adore all you lads and lasses who will be there. And rest assured that I will be chewing my nails off and pacing around the house all fucking day pre and during the match, so whatever happens you will probably have a much better day than I do anyway.
Come on get to game, bet you’d enjoy it

Ok so they don’t go, big whoop.

I’m all for us selling out but I couldn’t give two hoots if Uncle Bob and Aunty Violet can’t go to their first game for 15 years because nobody was able to buy a ticket for them.

Surely you can do it cheaper than that?

If it was a choice between missing the match and doing it on the cheap (e.g. drive down, take sandwiches, spend next to fuck all on the day). Going on the cheap would be the preferred option for me, but everyone is different.

I'm conflicted because I really can't afford it My wife's 60th next month My boys Birthday this week. I was there last night although probably I would have been wiser to save the money for wembley. All those shitty games you remember Play off finals, Semis I was at all of them. I will probably go in the cheapest seat I can get travelling in the cheapest method I can find. I get why people didn't go last night, you missed the best atmosphere of the season. I was close to tears when the whole ground stood singing Starman. I want to be at Wembley when we sing it again. No blame to anyone who doesn't go, I don't think I could bear to miss it.

Someone else worked it out about same. Even if drive down, found somewhere to park, maybe tube to get there will work out similiar. Money is tight at the moment cant really afford it with holiday straight after. Not able to buy tickets till Friday so chances are all the cheap seats will be gone. Its what people have said no one should be guilt tripped for not attending. Everyone supports the Blades in there own way whether its sat at home watching the telly or cheering them on in the stands.

Definitely gearing myself up for another trip through the Wembley meatgrinder, and I've managed to convince the 8yo to come as well.

Come on Blades, win needed to get him fully onboard the Bladeacoaster after primary school flirtations with various other teams that his mates "support".

I won't be going. Seen us lose three times there and (get the SnowflakeAlarm™ ready) I don't think my Mental Elf could take it. It's not great at the best of times, but in the last decade I really struggle with the aftermath of big games. I think I probably need to up my Sertraline if I'm honest.

Junior and Mrs will be going so I will live vicariously (to a degree) through them.
